Anybody got any suggestions?

I seem to be going through a phase of rage! I get so wound up at the simplest of things, to the point where it feels like my blood is actually boiling. :smt010
It feels more than the normal annoyance of work, bad drivers etc, I want to throw things and hit things/people!

How can I just relax?

Chemical suggestions considered aswel as Theraputic!

go lay on a bed.

Lay on your back, arms at sides, palms down.
Breath in and out slowly and controlled.
Close your eyes and concentrate on your toes. Imagine there is a switch in them and turn them off, when you can't feel them anymore go up to your knees, turn them off, then your hips, then your arms

By the time you get to your head, your either asleep or on another plain.
Perhaps best before bedtime, but can be done any time of the day, full relaxation garanteed

The first thing would be to find out whats casuing the problem, as what is making you stressed there will be a reason why.

Councloring can help, have you thought about that? Despite what people say it does work. Also talking to friend can help as well, either or both those do help.

Do you do a lot of execrise? That helps relive stress and also makes you feel good. Also if your not sleeping well training will make you tried and so you will sleep. I'm to go swiming I can't handle weight training in this heat.

Maybe some like Tai Chi as well it will help control your breathing.

If at all possiable don't take any drugs, I dislike taking anything unless I have too.

I would try something like the above before doing anything, I find it works for me. However we are all different so you need to find your techniques.

I used to use hypno tapes, given to me to relax me an enable sleep. Bloody brilliant things any time any place anywhere just use stereo ear phones pop on on and listen 20mins or so will pass like a flash of light. For those 20mins your almost unconcious and once its over you wake gentley and feeling bloody fantastic.

Oh well in that case pump action shot gun, bottle of jack and go postal. Well at least they will be quite, but it may make a mess. Do you clean your own office?

custard

+1 go postal. at least it will get the expenses row out of the papers :)

exercise will lower overall stress levels. and a big fat doobie will lower them even more.

Or falling asleep. Try doing this the other way up (head to toes, and the way I teach it to my yoga students I get them to tense the various bits of their bodies and release) and take it a bit further...

go lay on a bed.

Lay on your back, arms at sides, palms down.
Breath in and out slowly and controlled.
Close your eyes and concentrate on your toes. Imagine there is a switch in them and turn them off, when you can't feel them anymore go up to your knees, turn them off, then your hips, then your arms

Once you're calm, do some creative visualisation - imagine you're going on a walk into the woods, you see a house, you go into the house and you find a room that's a 'relaxation suite' (break the bank, it's your imagination). spend some time there getting to know it before coming back.

Thereafter, every time you feel stressed, or want to punch someone, imagine yourself in that room. Job done.

punch someone much bigger than you, they will then punch you back and you will then be unconcious and therefore unstressed.

Have a child, then you've always got something handy to beat up. I used to suffer with anger, so I had four kids to share the beatings amongst them

You need to make sure you have the right kind of fish in it, they do the hard work and then you just have to keep on top of your water changes.

Look how is this for relaxing watching these beauties swimming around in a huge tank??

Feeling a little less stressed today as I tool the morning off and went to the hairdressers, but it's an expensive way to feel better!

I have been given Bach Rescue Remedy, does it work? I am sceptical. It's a flower remedy?

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, getting your hair done is a massive morale booster (not as expensive as marine fish so dont feel bad)

Yes the rescue remedy does work, its not a placebo either, I used to use it on animals at Battersea Dogs Home when I was a vet nurse there...lots of the staff took it too...

If you have a garden....

Make 2 ponds, water pump, and a stream between them.

Nothing like sitting in the garden, warm summers evening, beer, bob, with the stream and waterfall flowing, watching all the birds come into the garden to have a bath in the stream.

Proper relaxation.. Might find yourself wanting a wee or two though

Exercise- go for a run then some pushups, situps or whatever floats your boat.

As mentioned, exercise lowers stress levels. But a run is good for generally burning off agression.

I agree about finding out what's causing it though- being aware of something can make such a big difference.

Meditation is good- but it takes time to get into it, so not an instant fix. Very recommended though.

Some cathartic music, played loud?

Now you've F**king stressed me out! The house we put an offer on (and got rejected) had 2 ponds, a pump and a water fall/stream between as well as a fuggin massive garden. :-(

Once saw a TV programme where someone was saying there were certain pressure points in your body where, if tapped repetitively, would have a calming influence. One of them is the bit of flesh between your thunb and first finger. I thought it was bollox.

I do get stressed sometimes at work and I tried it - guess what - it worked. While tapping this bit of my hand I could fell myself getting calmer. It may just be a placebo effect but it worked for me. Bizarre but true.

Cheers Keith

Thank you, actually quite funny that pic, was going to use it for a sexual harassment poster for a laugh, the one seems to be moving away from the other's advances...I used to have a huuuuuge blue one, Godzilla, bigger than both my hands...let me find a pic...here we go, its not a good one I suppose, will see if I have any lurking about in the wrong folder, was sure I took more of him.

Heres another interesting one, this is the long spined urchin who lives in the tank in the lounge (Mr VT's project...filled with the poisonous stuff, like Lionfish ...named Bert and Ernie of all things, they are dirty fish, need water changes too frequently for my liking)

I have pleccs and a few other 'glass lickers' in my tropical tanks :)
They cant do salt water as far as I am aware, unless Im wrong??
The only freshwater trop that I know you can put in marine is a molly, I had a HUUUGE Molly all built up strong and muscular from the current in the marine tank and eating the special foods, she was massive.
