Yeah, sorry about that... had a load of images used without my permission recently... have to protect my work somehow :) Its a shame that the minority spoil it for the rest though.

LOL yeah! Its a great lens, goes everywhere with me :)

I just wish i had taken the 5D instead of my 400D as the 400D struggled in the contrast of the direct sun. All of my images are too contrasty :(

Obviously no one else likes them LOL LOL

well someone goes to a lot of effort to take them, sort then, upload them and then link them through to a thread on here for others to see, 250 odd veiws and three people bother to comment, i'd take that as a fairly obvious sign only those three were interested :smt102.

whilst I don't wish to give reasons why Sam deleted her posts, I was pointing out an obvious possible cause, I've also done the same in the past, spent hours sorting loads of photos, uploading and linking threads just to make them visible to others, as I could already see them myself it certainly wasn't for my benifit, not to mention the amount of discs I've cut for people, and it's my hobby not my job :smt102

I've also removed pictures because of someone elses comments, if people don't appriciate (or appear not to) then it's understandable and perhaps a future post that'll never see the light of day.

Sam takes some wonderful pictures, fortunately I get to see them all directly.

no-one is disputing that Sam takes great photos - i for one can't see them when i am at work and don't always log on when i get home being as i am stuck behind a computer for 8 hours a day. some of those people that had viewed the thread may be like me and unable to view the pics until they get home or otherwise.

Well for example not everyone's got internet 24/7. Some might only have it at work & therefore fit their browsing through the 6 separate Brands threads around what they're getting paid for. Just a thought.

Sammy ... was showing my mummy your website pics and she really liked one or 2. She wanted me to print them out for her but i explained how thats not on, so she wants to possibly buy a couple of prints.

I don't mean to be pedantic so sorry if it comes across that way...but actually, I don't know which photos are blocked and which aren't. I know some are and some aren't, but I don't know the whole list, so for me I always have to open the thread first.
I don't really think this is the problem though as I expect it only affects a few people, so yeah you are right that it still boils down to 250+ views and only 5 replies.

I think that's a pretty good hit rate TBH as there were only a few people on the actual trackday. And if you look at other threads, after the first 5 or 10 comments someone generally derails the thread and it becomes a ****-take.

Another point about the "views" count is that it dont take into account that i came in and out of this thread a hell of a lot of times, so it not like 250 differnet people came into the thread once each and didnt bother commenting.

And tbh a lot of photo thread have those kind of stats. Everyone likes to look at nice pics, weather they were there or not and dont always reply as they dont always have anything usefull/productive/interesting to post or they are one of the forums many lurkers.

I PM'd a "lurker" whos name i hadn't seen on the forum for over 2yrs. This person was never a prolific poster but did come to an AR once. So we do have "active" members that are purley voyeristic, they only like to watch, not get involved. Nothing wrong with that.

And i hate to say it but since some recent threads about "whats wrong with the org" etc where some people read it that their posts were kinda not welcome the post count for the forum as a whole has gone down dramatically and this is one of the syptoms of people not knowing if they can post a comment without somone seeing it as "chat" and thus deleting it.

I see both arguments.

However, is it really and truly such a big deal if the "comments rate" is significantly lower than the comments rate? I mean really? I know it is a lot of work to upload pictures and make a thread etc etc etc...but one should not "expect" people to comment.

I couldnt view the photos at work. Then I couldnt reply because my computer decided to dislike me. The once I finally got around to being able to reply, the photos were gone :( Its a shame that they have been deleted because they were really good and one should be proud of showing off their work, regardless of whether someone comments or not.

The "view" rate hasnt taken into account the same person viewing the thread multiple times.

I hope that this doesnt stop you from uploading your future work and photos sam because it would be a great shame if it did.

As far as I am aware, the issue is not about lack of comments of the photo's but more of owner rights. Is that not the case?

Not sure mate, one day the pics were there, the next they were gone and replaced with a . for some reason. Sadly Sammy hasn't posted why she took them off and the rest of us have simply speculated about the possibilities.

Originally she posted them up and (I think in this thread) said the reason for the watermark across the photos was owner's rights, then when they came down a couple of days later that made me think it wasn't to do with the rights but with the comments...? You know we always appreciate your pics Mark. I've used at least 2 for various avatars, tho i dont know if you see that as a complimet as to how much i liked the pic or a p*ss take and abuse of the pic??

Either way, PLEASE dont stop posting pics up. Any of you that is. I know that i for one take it for granted that if Mark is coming on a rideout i can leave my camera at homke as Mark will get some great pics and they will be posted up here and on his FB page. And its ALWAYS appreciated mark, even if i dont always say so.

Oh I'm not really that bothered; I'll freely show them round and those that want copies just have to ask, just less likely to go to the trouble of making a thread on here, but as I've done with my latest pic, some are on FB and others in private albums which are "limited friends" viewable, but I've always done that.

to be fair the pics are still there (on her web site) and so it's only a case of the general forum that misses out as anyone who knows her will prosumably know her site :smt102
