k3 pointy with just over 20,000 miles on it but its spotless and in good mechanical order, been serviced every 4000 miles since new!

heres the problem and its the second time that its happened, about a year ago and now today, and both times after a fast motorway journey.

I will be slowing down and will notice that it cannot keep a steady amount of revs whist trying to hold a speed, then when the clutch comes in to stop the engine just cuts out completely. When i try to start it again it will start, backfire, then switch completely off again. I switched it off and on again and it was able to idle, but then when reved a bit it sounds like its choking untill it gets to about 5000rpm, i then drove home making sure i kept the revs up but again as soon as i got home throttled off and it died.

it then sat in the garage for about 15mins, i then went out to start it again and it appears to be fine!

any ideas to what it might be would be very helpfull!

cheers

Ive had the exact same problem, always after being on a motorway. It seems that if I keep the revs constant for a while, then come off the motorway the bike won't hold the revs and will cut out.

Have you tried setting up the TPS? I brought the tool bit required to do this yesterday and will be trying it tonight - i'll let you know if that solves the problem

My K5 had a similar problem, I replaced the TPS and never had any further issues. Apparently they're not that reliable.

how much was the sensor? is it hard to change? any idea why it seems to fix itself if the bike is switched off for a while?

From memory about £30 and it was a simple unbolt and refit job, plus a little setting up time.
