Has anyone else heard about this?

If it's true, then why haven't we been informed by our mobile phone company?

If you're so paranoid, go PAYG and top up with cash. Anonymous then except if it was tapped and monitored rigorously.
I've heard about it. I wouldn't be happy with my mobile number in a directory. The only people who have my mobile number are those I want to- those that would need to get hold of me urgently as well as a those who are friends (not many :P) If people need to get hold of me, they're people that will have some way of contacting me without needing my mobile number.

My mobile number is in a directory? So what?
The fact that the Govt routinely capture an store all my conversations and text messages is far more worrying to me but that seems to bother few people apart from me who think i'm apranoid or something.
Yet this story worries some people more. Odd.

I'm not paranoid, just don't particularly want all and sundry to have my mobile number. I get enough unsolicited calls to my land line without ones to my mobile as well.

List your landline number with the TPS and you should soon be free of most of that rubbish.

Already done that, but I still get calls from my bank, utility suppliers etc, usually when I'm eating my evening meal. I've got being abrupt/rude off to a fine art now. :D
It's going to work like 118118 where someone rings up, gives your name (lucky you if its Smith) and they are given your number.
However, if you log onto http://www.118800.co.uk and do "what it says on the can" you can have your number made ex-directory.

Do what I do & change your name every now & then.
Think I'm onto my 4th name change now (or fifth incl the one on the russia customs & passport control)....
My motto: I may be paranoid....but am I paranoid enough?
