Ah mine is at 1000 rpm, so that would be far too low?

1350rpm when warm or something (anywhere 1300-1400 will do.)

I turned mine down to about 1000rpm for a while and it just sounded all kinds of wrong at that speed when sat at lights.
When you first turn it up DJ it'll seem like its just too much but you'll get used to it.

between 1300 and 1500 rpm is a good idle speed. MIne is at 1500 rpm, thats mainly to prevent stalling in the winter during the first 10 mins of cold running.
haynes manual says 1300rpm +or- 100rpm. You need to adjust it whilst the engine is warm after a 15 minutes or so ride.
