View Full Version : Replaced indicators - one side only flashing fast

I tidied up the &rse of my K8 SV650S last weekend with a tail tidy and some mini (Oxford) indicators. Fitted them using Motrax indy leads and added extra "indication" via the LEDs in my replacement clear brake/rear light cluster.

The right hand side of the bike works fine, front, rear and cluster indicators all flash at the expected rate...but the left side goes like the clappers. Any ideas why this would be the case ? (all bulbs on left side seem fine and flash...just quickly)

is a bulb blown?

If there all flashing on the left just too fast your going to need a new relay

See if both front bulbs are same wattage?

The LHS is drawing less current than the RHS which is resulting in a faster flash rate on that side.

If you installed LEDs with resistors, check that the resistor on the LHS is connected. If so, unplug it and put an ohm meter across it and check it's not a dud.

If you installed bulbs check that they're the same wattage on both sides.

Some clarification:

- Front's not changed and straight from factory so assume bulbs same wattage
- Rear mini's came as a pair and assumed same bulb wattage (bulbs not LEDs)
- No resistors or any other jiggery pokery fitted - straight plug in of indy leads
- Cluster light is LED, have it's indicators fitted in parallel with mini's on both sides
- All bulbs and LEDs working

I will recheck the connections on both sides - perhaps a poor connection is resulting in a reduced current draw on LHS. May have a dabble with multi-meter to see if that brings up any clues.....I *think* the LHS was initially working fine whilst I was part way through assembly/testing

I think you need LED indicators all round if you want to put LED on a bike at all.
