Hey all . I'm a 59 yr old , old school biker who has only lately discovered this site . Long time britbiker ( Nortons ) currently riding an sv650 set up as a strpped down tricked up streetfighter . Also currently building a 73 T120RV streettracker . Have owned over the years 14 bikes and my favorites are the 73 Norton and the SV650 . Dream bike has always been a Vincent Black Shadow but that'll never happen as the collectors have discovered them ! Sorry about the length of this self-centered rant , but I thot it incumbent to introduce myself .

Welcome!!!

.... from the other US rider on here.
A former BSA rider in Virginia.

This is a great forum where people actually ride bikes and offer good advice, etc.... as well as being a likeable bunch. (for the most part) ;)
Unlike the constant whining and drivel that seems to dominate most US forums.

73 850 roadster , mostly stock xcept removed turn signals (pic). 73 750 roadster with a stepped seat , sissy bar and pullback handlebars , and a 68 (?) atlas someone had chopped . Had a lucas magneto that had to cool for an hour before the bike would start , so i made it my pub crawler ! always thot that dead stock the commando is the most beautiful bike ever made , tho that may have something to do with the adverts featuri
ng miniskirted and gogo booted girls draped over the bike ! Loved the stock look so much that when i put a 38 mm mikuni on the 850 , i fabbed a new air cleaner to
match the stock twin amal one .

Calm down , gentlemen ! Hava cuppa and I'll attempt to list the mods for the sake of informed opinion . Removed front fender , right front caliper and disc . Braided line to the left caliper. Weight savings about 7 lbs . Removed stock mirrors and bar ends , finished mirror mounts , installed bar end mirrors and anodised bar ends . Weight - 3 lbs . Risers and front stalks are from a bandit , about 1" lower than stock , turn signals about 2" narrower . R6 throttle tube , dominator headlight , lowered instruments to nestle between lites . Removed reflectors and misc rubber bits to complete front end to date . Engine has pair system , snorkel removed , k&n and power commander , anodised oil cap hindle full exhaust . Shift lever drilled , inverted , and pains taken to get the link shaft parallel to the shift lever centerline . Heel guards cut down and drilled , silencer bracket drilled . Removed passenger grab rail and pegs/mounts , rear fender and toolbox . Integrated. Taillight , block sanded lettering on calipers , quick release gas cap , trex sliders , braided rear brake line . To do list includes turning and possibly anodising forks painting black of course and i'd really like to relocate that radiator... Bike is about 37 lbs lighter and meant for fair weather playing . I take no issue with opinions , as many of the mods are pretty subtle . O yeah , that's a bandit chainguard . Don't ask where i got all the bandit parts !

Calm down , gentlemen ! Hava cuppa !

1 suger please;)

so the idea was to save weight, and not just throw stuff at it to "bling it up" ?

intresting, i had been thinking along the same lines to do somthing with a curvy, im just not sure what, yet

i was not slagging your bike off, i just wondered what you had done.
cheers:cool:

yawn! the difference is that most people ask for opinions the OP didn't.

Oh and while I'm in my "thread police" role it's whether not weather.

i know, but he got one, which was as much as a question, as a statement, strange why you should get so worked up about it, but Svsmokey fine with my comment/question

Oh and while I'm in my "thread police" role it's whether not weather. thanx;)

Served indeed.........hence the "?" after my post, as i wanted to know, what he had done to his bike,
