View Full Version : oh dear
my auntie has just requested to be my freind on facebook. WTF shes doing on facebook, i dont know
shes probably going on for 60, and quite "posh" ok, shes from bradford, so posh is a bit OTT but, you know what i mean.
my status ocasanaly contains the "F" word, and i dont think this would impress here, plus some of the crap i put on there may ofend her, but it would be good to see pics of the family, including my neice

I said no, but don't deny adding her just ignore it, and if she ever asks why just say you don't use facebook that much, and didn't get round to adding her.
thats what i would do anyway

go for it she has to accept you for who u are if she cant then stuff her lol
Yes of course you should accept her. What does it matter if she's posh, and why care if she sees what you post. People really do need to accept that everyone's different and that diversity is a good thing. Besides, as for swearing, my guess is that she has heard it all before.
Add her, then go to your profile privacy settings page and on the bits you don't want her to see, click on customise and put her name down in the 'except these people' to keep her from seeing your status and stuff.

Why? You're entitled to an opinion:D
If it would make you feel uncomfortable, no. Any photos she is able to email them to you, no problem.

My Grandad sent me a friend request and he's in his late 70's. I didn't accept it and told him that I just don't use it. The way I see it is I have my family life and then I have my internet life.

I know what you mean, my updates are often crude as hell and ill remember i have a cousin or two on there who are probably early teens, so they've obviously talked about all manner of filth at school but it doesnt mean you'd say it to them face to face.
Who cares anyway? Facebook's s**t.

The only answer that keeps everyone happy.
No harm in that.

do what venom said - keeps everyone happy without them knowing you're limiting their profile, because when i first had fb a family friend added me (who goes to my parents church) and 3 years later i forgot they were there and had all kinds of statuses including ones using the f word, until my parents commented at how he'd told them (in church!!) that i did have the most colourful of statuses! he got limited pretty quick

WhoTF got the older generation onto Facebook anyway? They have a lot to answer for!!
I've got friend requests from my in-laws hovering in my pending box for the exact same reason!
So what you do is nothing - that way if they speak to you someday and mention it, you can mumble something about not having checked in a while and then race home and accept. Then you investigate the hiding/blocking options. ;)
Cowards way out wins everytime...

...indeed, i always thought it was for kids, and blokes pretending to be kids:eek:
took me a while to start using it, but as all my freinds were, i decided to give it a go, and im glad i did, but i agree, its a but weird with the old folks on there
I wouldn't bother.
I have denied near enough all my family, just accepted a few cousins. Don't want the whole family seeing what I get up to!
