I thought I would check my SV over before the AR .... its got a bit expensive !
I started with an oil & filter change .. then plugs & air cleaner .. then thought new fork oil not a problem untill i noticed that the front pads were getting down ... so in went a new set of front pads ....
To the rear ! clean & adjust chain .. oh the rear tyre does not look like it will do the distance ... new tyre to the man with the wallet thats getting lighter !
Looking good now ... but i feel left out with my standard can .... hello is that FUEL exhausts ... yes on oval stainless can please !!!
Sod it in for a penny in for a pound !!
Hope to see You there :D

hahahah! Excellent :D look forward to seeing you again mate :D
I should have a new rear shock and a new clutch worm drive before AR...oil is fine (2000 miles since changed) but i do have new plugs. I think the brake pads are still ok, but im gonna change them before winter anyway.

I like this girl and her cavalier attitude to motorcycle maintenance. It's people like her who keep the amateur home mechanics like me in foreign holidays and new bikes :D

I'm getting a bike shop to look at my brakes tomorrow as i think they need bleeding or theres something wrong with the fluid, they've gone floppy and sloppy in last few weeks nearly hit the back of my mate on the mountain when he braked for a van so getting it done before i go.
What do i look for on my oil filter and oil other than the oil level being high enough when doing that?
And chain i'll do couple of days before that'll be me sorted :D... Well once my renntec rack arrives and is fitted.

.
Nothing on the filter itself, ideally you should be doing an oil chnage every 4,000 miles give r take a few depending on how you ride it. Make sure oil leel is near the top mark.
Chain should be well adjusted too and lubed of course but if you're getting thr shop to do the brakes you may as well ask them to do the chain "as a courtesy while its there" otherwise they may charge you for the priveldge ;)

Last year my entire pre-AR prep was to crash a week or so before :smt012 then I repaired it all by sticking an elastoplast over one of the cracks (which is still there) and colouring in some scratches with a black sharpie. I may have checked the oil as well, though actually I might not have bothered to do that til about halfway down.
Way I see it is, if I'm not happy to ride long distance then I probably won't be happy to ride short distance either. The bits that are likely to strand you 500 miles from home are the bits you can't do anything about anyway, hard-failing sealed boxes and suchlike, and changing bits around at the last minute is just asking for trouble. So I pursue my policy of dedicated, high-level neglect
