Just been listening to the dog walking across the hard floor, makes a chikka chikka chikka chikka noise.
Wondering what it would be if it was an engine, and what firing sequence?
It would be 4 cylinder obviously, if an inline 4 then 1,3,2,4 but not sure of the timing angles.
Cant be an inline, that would be one crazy looking dog, more like a box 4?? square 4?? i dunno lol :P

Just imagine the bark of the engine when revved up high.
Sounds like it has tappets

I bet it would be a thirsty motor and would woof down the petrol. :smt044

Dogs lift opposite legs front and back, so it would have firing order of a boxer 4.

well I've noticed on tickover they tend to go front right, rear left, then an energy pulse to propel forward, then front left, rear right and another energy pulse. Repeat. Hence the uneven chikka chikka noise.
However when the rpm gets above mid range the back legs are together as one with the front in a closer ratio to normal. This kinda turns them into a V twin.

so dogs are really very advanced, they have a variable firing order
what a concept

This post, smelt of cheese, hefty cheesyness.

Wonder if honda got the idea for the VTEC from this then ? :)

mine really isn't. The intelligent cruise control is faulty, the ABS doesn't work, and in neutral it makes this "pant pant" noise. Also needs a lot of fuel and doesn't go far on it - and don't get me started on the emissions

did you know dogs are actually rear wheel drive as well?
Next time you get to see grey hound racing in slow motion, watch the dogs as they understeer and more or less drift around the corner of the track, a bit like a speedway bike :)

you got the harley davidson one then

i'd say he's a diesel truck. Big, slow, but enough torque to pull your arms off.
I can't think of any vehicle that licks your feet all night tho

Mine is defect then more like a locomotive, pulls and chuffs when out ...... although he does that chikka chikka thing so maybe he has an identity issue.

Agreed. Emissions are definitely a problem when you've opted for a larger model from the range. Specialist mental displacement skills are essential if you intend to deal with the problem while also keeping your lunch down.
Depending on which version you have, the fuelling issues aren't necessarily a problem and some of the higher-maintenance versions can run all day lng after you would expect them to. However, this can result in them running quite hot in warmer weather and subsequently distribute excess water from the breather tubes all over your kitchen floor/feet/television/family/great-great-grandmother's handstitched tablecloth.

I didnt have chikka chikka issues till mine dropped his fuel all over my carpet. I took Lissa and Petes advice and kept mine in the lounge. After a few fuel dumps and overloading of fuel and excess spillage I had to opt for wooden flooring, which now makes the "chikka chikka" apparent. Can always tell when he is running smooth.
Think mine is a 2 stroke, smaller chasis and the paint job is a little patchy too :( still got some character. Was thinking of taking him back as he is only 2 and wouldnt expect that kind of wear and tear on a 2 yr ol model.
Hand rail come off too, they say docking the hand rail is illegal nowadays so I think I need a refund at least.

Mine's breather tube is an old British design - it does this constantly whether hot or cold, and especially just prior to refueling. I can determine from the viscosity of the expelled fluid, that its probably coolant and definitely not plain water.
