In and around County Sligo - Image Heavy

Liz & I have been away for a couple of weeks, we've been to Southern Ireland again, but to stay in the holiday cottage owned by her relatives in Ardabrone. I took a large amount of pics, heres a sampler, we also popped to Dublin on a day trip and I visited the Guiness Storehouse.

Its a beautiful part of the world, but very remote, a great place to relax and unwind and get away from it all.

We didnt take the motorbikes this time, we took our pedal bikes and I did a few rides, but no recreation of the jetty pic this time.

Cracking pics Fizz, hope you didn't get too pished at Guinness!

I was only saying to Mrs BP how I fancied a week on my bike down that way. We stayed near Youghall for our honeymoon, fantastic smoked salmon from the Blackwater river!

By the way, do you know much about fixed wheel bikes? I fancy one and would appreciate some pointers!

No not to much, teh Guiness in the Guiness Storehouse is without doubt the finest pint of it I've ever had, and the views out across Dublin were fantastic.


By the way, do you know much about fixed wheel bikes? I fancy one and would appreciate some pointers!

No not a huge amount, I know a tiny bit, the main thing I've taken from looking at them is to get a flip flop hub, that way you can ride it freewheel or fixed wheel depending on what your doing oh and dont stop pedalling...

Scoobs bought a fixie I think a while ago so might be worth a PM...

Wow, that little pool/lagoon with the turquoise water and those waterfalls...i'd never have said Ireland if they were pposted and some said guess the place.
Also, is it just me or does Ireland have every shade of green known to mankind between its gresses, trees, fields, hedges etc.

what a place of contrast, I was out there in my late teens on an enforced family holiday, sod all to do, no wonder so many young Irish end up over the water in England. I hated it and was prepared to get a taxi to the nearest airport and jump on the next plane out.

These days I look a pics like them and dream of the solitude, the peace and quiet and a different pace of life. Yup must be old

And yearning to go back for a visit. It's real biking country, and the people, and the craic, are fantastic. Once out of the city, every day is like a quiet Sunday, till you open the door to go in the bar.

Its been years since I've been there. I know I won't make is this year though I think I've persuade everyone to go to Galway for at least a day. Bring back memories!!
