As some of you are aware there is a rideout based in Birchover (http://Birchover) on the first weekend in September. Info (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=134113) chat (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=130883)

I am planning to go to this, as are another coupple of ecossers, just thought i'd pop this up to see if there was any more interest.

My plan (at present) is to leave early Friday 4th and take a lesuirely, scenic, non motorway route down. Realistically this means 10 - 12 hours including stops for fuel / food etc. but I'd prefer that to 6hours mind numbing motorway. (of course route will be weather dependant)

I would also probably head back up on the Monday rather than the Sunday and may even stretch this further, again doing as little motorway miles as weather permits.

So here is the list of those attending so far, and i'll post a couple of suggestions for routes later, think on. Rough Route (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Stirling,+UK&daddr=A701+to:A689+to:54.770593,-2.537842+to:A684+to:Birchover,+Matlock,+Derbyshire ,+UK&hl=en&geocode=%3BFQZNTwMdEv_L_w%3BFWjiRAMd6Rfa_w%3B%3BFe ymPAMdolLe_w%3B&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=3&sz=10&via=1,2,3,4&dirflg=h&sll=54.623773,-2.359314&sspn=0.376059,0.88028&ie=UTF8&z=10)
Just trying to catch, moffat, Hartside (http://www.transportcafe.co.uk/hartsidetop.html) cafe for lunch (which is about half way). I'm open to suggestions for route roads etc and hopefully our southern cousins wi keep us right south of the border.

Attendees:
1. Kilted Ginger
2. Combat Fred & Mrs CF
3. Sally

KG, like me, is a multi-millionaire, he doesn't need to work. :^o [-o<[-o<

Any holidays you have booked before you start they have to honour. It's so that if you book and pay for a package holiday in January, get made redundant in May, start a new job in July, the new job can't tell you your not allowed to go on your holiday in August.

Tell them now that it's already booked and accomondation paid for and they'll give you the time off. If you are not entitled to the paid holidays under your contract (ie: you have to accrue them before you can take them) they may be unpaid, but they have they have to give you the time off. If it's already booked and paid for they won't think it's cheeky.

Thought i'd update this. As far as i can make out from the main thread, its just me and dyziowg heading down to this on the Friday now. The Combats are doing a motorway blast later in the day.
My route (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Stirling,+UK&daddr=biggar+to:moffat+to:a686+to:Birchover,+Matlo ck,+Derbyshire,+UK&geocode=&hl=en&mra=mr&mrcr=3&dirflg=h&sll=54.048102,-2.529602&sspn=0.78852,2.463684&ie=UTF8&z=7) biggar, moffat, hartside cafe for lunch, after that i'm open to suggestions.

Dyz, Combatfred, I'm assuming this is still the case?

Anyone thats free on Friday and fancies a run is more than welcome to tag along for as far as suits them.

... after that i'm open to suggestions.
A6 towards Kendal, B6261 towards Orton, A865 to Devils Bridge (Kirby Lonsdale), A65 to Skipton then on to Keighley, Hebden Bridge, Holmfirth then choice is yours, back SW a bit to Hollingworth and then towards Birchover or carry on SE to Sheffield then back SW. Beware of picking up Snake Pass (road that heads east from Glossop), known police speed trap area but I saw none last week but that was a Tuesday :)

If pushed for time then from Kendal, carry on the A6 to just north of Lancaster and pick up the M6 to south of Manchester, pick up the A50 to Knutsford, A537 to Buxton (Cat n Fiddle road), A515, A5012 & B5056

Ok, so I'm feeling ok, bike runs fine, days off are booked, so I'll meet you Friday.

But I'll probably say goodbye to everyone at breakfast Sunday morning and head up to Aberdeen via the east coast route.

Wash your mouth young man, the 'prila has been trouble free since the oil incident, which was only down to me not buying the proper stuff sooner.

Come to think of it, the only issues I had with it were: low oil, dead battery, snapped drain plug - all of these were down to the owner :( I'm ashamed to admit.
Sure, a little TLC is needed but overall not bad for 5k miles me thinks....
