Hi people,

twas riding to work this morning all was going fine, get to the roundabout near to my depot and went to throttle away but nothing i looked down to the speedo to find the engine was off( my helmet is very sound proof ). Its done this a couple of times but its very rare, it doesnt bother me too much but its not right along with sometimes when i put the bike in 1st she sometimes like to try and pull me along ( with the clutch in? ) but that seems to be a rarity aswell, can somebody please shed some light into this??

Thanks alot

mine cuts out like you describe but normally after a long fast motorway journey. The people here told me that its likely to be the throttle position sensor messing arround and i said to the dealership i got the bike from and they say they have changed quite a few of them in SV's. About the clutch i think the bike would tend to creep a wee bit but you could try adjusting the clutch if it realy bothers you

Could be loose battery terminals.

cheers warren and svdemon, i will have a look at the battery now, and i will get the throttle position sensor sorted out by the dealer. think ill get them to tune the spark timing aswell at the same time :D

thanks again,

Ben.

Have you noticed a misfire at all? front plugs like getting wet and then work intermitantly, mine kept missing and stalled a couple of times today but my 40 mile thrash soon sorted it out :thumright: you might notice it on idle, also check your idle, make sure its between 1300rpm - 1500rpm, mine again used to cut out at lights randomly adjusted my idle to 1500 rpm and its fine now (unless it mis fires)

ive never really heard a misfire at all, and it seems all okay when riding in the wet.

Ah see thats the thing, it may seem fine in the wet when riding or stationary but next day it might misfire, mine was fine all the way home tuesday, out today and every time i was stationary it kept mis firing

That is not adjustable.

When you say it died, did you lose everything including any idiot lights and the digital dash etc.
If so I think loose wire or corroded terminal on main live.
