Hello all , and informed...
I have had my SV for about 6 weeks, and i've done just over 2000 miles. It has roughly 8500 miles on the clock.
The garage i bought it from serviced it before passing it onto me. Am i due another service now? if not when should I get it done?
I also hear some things about timing or valve gaps?
Cheers, Ben.
You should service the bike every ~4k miles, since the dealer did it for you, you have another 2k of riding.
Valves need checking/adjusting @15k, that's the major service.

Service it at about 10500 - 11,000 miles. When you come to do the valve clearance check at 15,000 miles, you are then poised to do everything else all at once (oil, oil filter, new air filter, plugs) :D. SV oil service intervals at 4500 miles, 4000 miles is ideal but this idiot right here posting will go on to 5000 miles.

The main one is the oil. Checking the air filter every time you do the oil too helps with a clean + inspection and the plugs every other oil change.
If you think of it as basically
Oil
Oil + Plugs
Oil + Air Filter
Oil, Plugs, Clearances
go every 4k and it should be fine. ** Along with weekly checks of tyres, fluid levels etc . . .
Service intervals are in your manual and its every 3500 - 4000 or 6 months which ever comes first (mines well over due now but ill do it next week)
So you'll be looking at a 11k service which they say
Replace air filter
Inspect plugs (tbh i replace them each time especially with the front one prone to getting wet)
Oil and filter change
Total if you do it i think roughly will be £48 (price excludes air filter though as i dont know price of stock filter although you may want to upgrade to a k&n or other air cleaner which are normally about £37)
