If you had to choose which one to service your bike who would it be? Not convinced with MO or JA.

Cheers

depending on who was closest, i would use either.. they are both good.

my first 500mile free service was done at cupar and i couldn't fault them, considering it was a free service they even topped up my scottoiler.

both places have very helpful staff with 'no pressure sales' and have good relations with there customers.

Right now I'd choose Cupar. Had my bike serviced there under warranty, no snags and an SV courtesy bike to conduct redline experiments on.

I've been phoning and emailing Saltire recently trying to buy a bike and they've given me a damn good ignoring, just empty promises that somebody will be in touch. If this is how they treat me before they get my money... Everybody else speaks very highly of them mind. :-)

used Cupar since buying the bike 4 years ago. No problems at all. Now do servicing myself out of warranty. Visited Saltire once and got totally ignored despite hanging around particular bikes for a while. Went back another day and had plenty attention and a test ride. Still quoted £300 for a service with no extra parts though. Did that myself for about £90 plus time.

bought bike from Cupar, bike been serviced by cupars had nothing but good service from them. never used saltire so can't comment, by the sounds of things though you'll get good service from either! so wouldn't worry too much. Cupar does have some fun roads to get you there!

oh and used jim Allen for tyres and was fine!!

did they come back on your wheels, are the directional arrows the right way round?? After removing my radiator cap with mole grips (cause they forgot about the grub screw) i have no faith in them.:smt068

I use Saltire for tyres, I have yet to see their prices beaten. Servicing and repairs I do myself. If I had a bike in warranty though I would probably be using Saltire or C&S

I bought my bike from Cupars and had it serviced there and was disappointed with them, they claimed over the phone it would be fairly quick so I turned up to find they'd booked it in for the wrong time and it was going to take most of the afternoon. No courtesy bike offered and as it was pouring with rain outside I ended up hanging around the garage for two to two and a half hours but despite the place being empty the sales guys didn't even say a single word to me. I guess now they've had their sale they couldn't care less, it was certainly a stark contrast to before the purchase of the bike.

I'd go with the quality of work more than anything else, and in my experience that means Saltire. Not cheap, not always very good communication but they're safe hands. Not to say that Cupar's aren't of course.

We got the same attitude before buying, so went elsewhere.

i quite like the 'no hassle' attitude of Cupar and Saltire. unlike some other bike shops where you feel like a 'vultures meal'. if you are interested then ASK about it, their no pressure sales attitude is great... as for general chit chat i've always found both shops to be good.. never had a problem with either of them... personally i would rather have to go and ask about something than be hounded around a shop...

Well, I agree, but to phone and ask, and then for them not to phone back, is crap in anyones language. If their attitude is like that BEFORE they have your money, then it doesn't look promising once they have it.

teeeheeehhheee, the old phone back, to be honest i think most if not all shops are like that now... saltire are terrible for that, my mate ordered a tyre from (cash up front) them and said they would give him a phone when it came in, 3 week later and still no call. i think its the only thing i can fault saltire on, they have done the same to me.

Jeff at Saltire is a menace for that, "Yeah, I'll give you a call"... It'd be better if they just were up front and said "Nah, phone us back, we'll forget"

Yeah, I had to get Calum involved in a quotation for parts before I could get a reply out of Geoff, weeks after my first email and two email reminders later.

Bullseye. I just emailed them back and told them not to bother.

I imagine they're heartbroken.

Absolutely, I often do that at work, in case I do forget.
