View Full Version : I have Tamiflu...the first on the org?
As title says...am i the first on the org to be taking these? Feel like crap and it is a bit more sever than normal flu as i never get pains in chest or sever headaches when i get sick. Has come at the worst possible time too as it is an important period of activity at work next few weeks :(
At least i can still work from home but it wont be as effective. Normally i load up with tablets and go in but this time i have been told to stay away....
I suspect you are indeed the first. sounds cack matey, hope youre feeling better soon :(
Urgh! You've got the lurgy! Unclean, unclean!!
Sorry to hear this, and hope you feel a lot better soon. You are the first person I 'know' who has actually 'got' it, rather than thinks they 'may' have had it!
Several people, myself included, have been diagnosed with swine flu. I wasn't given Tamiflu though because it was too late for it to make a difference.

My missus' niece may have it as one of the kids in her nursery school did.
And I'm going to a wedding next week where one of the invited guests currently has it (so should be over it by then).
You can always save a bit of time and just lie on that 'self diagnosis' website to get the stuff ahead of time.

My mums been off work since last Thursday with it, she on Tamiflu. Works in doctors surgery so no surprises she has it. Was going to see the parents tomorrow, not going now, giving her a wide berth :D

Same for me. Been off work since last Fri. Wasn't actually tested but doc suspected that i caught it the week prior so tamiflu would be useless.

You mean to use as a completely ineffective vaccine?
Or simply to use up supplies meant for people who actually are sick?

Nope, I hate to brag but I was on them about 4-6 weeks ago.
Who am I kidding, I love to brag....
My flat mate is a primary school teacher & she and all her kiddies got infected at some outwards bounds course. She (well her & her class) was the headline story the BBC London News.
So nerr!

You'll feel like that with "regular" flu. So many people get a sniffle and a cough and say it's flu, it's not, if you really get flu you know about it, whatever the model.
Last time I had flu was about 20yrs ago, flat out for 5 days, weak and wimpering for another 5 and I'm not particularly prone to that sort of thing. It kills a lot of people every year.

Lucky you... i am diabetic and though i get flu jabs and also take additional vitamins etc i get the full blown flu eyery winter no fail as i have a very weak immune system.
I agree though a lot of people do automatically use the word flu when they have a mild cold and warm forehead etc.

pmsl =D>I seriously hope that I don`t offend anybody here but the GP`s are diagnosing Swine Flu and giving out tamiflu at the drop of a hat!!!
People are seeing GP`s with nothing more than a virus but the GP`s are panicking and erring on the side of caution so are diagnosing swine flu!
If a person had proper swine flu they would not be sat at a computer typing away... they would be in bed with aches and pains so severe it hurt them to actually move! I`ve been out to see 3 people who have been diagnosed with swine flu and i`m all gowned up with mask, gloves, goggles the lot... the "patients" are sat there on x box, drinking lucozade whilst their partner stirs their complan and all you hear is complaints that they can`t go out shopping!
I`m pig sick of this swine flu!

Well in my case I have some sort of flu and have been given Tamiflu and told to stay at home by GP and work and that is not through my choice. So i am running a bit of a fever and my joints ache like mad among other things but why would that stop me using a PC? Tamiflu is really good stuff combined with Ibuprofen and helps ease symptons pretty well but when it wears off.... back to bed i go :)

My point was that GP`s are diagnosing swine flu at the drop of a hat due to the panic that has arisen. I`m not saying that nobody has it and I`m sorry that you`re feeling so lousy.
I just feel that there is an awful lot of misdiagnosis going on and the examples I gave were of the 3 patients I have visited.
I also think that a lot of viruses are confused with flu... again i`m not saying that those viruses don`t make you feel poorly and give you aches and pains but if anyone has ever had genuine real proper flu i`m sure they`ll back me up here that it totally wipes you out. You are unable to get out of bed and you feel so crap that you wouldn`t even want to sit at a pc.
My 10 week old grandson was diagnosed positive after hospital blood tests last weekend, hes been on some treatment and is now doing well.
Ive been in regular contact with the infection and have a bit of a lousy cold, dount think Im in need of Tamiflu.
To echo some of the other replies if you have flu you would have all on to crawl out of bed let alone use a pc.
Yep the real heavy genuine flu screws you right up and no i have not wanted to get out of bed on the occasions it hit me.
Obviously i have not got swine flu though i have some symptons. I would not be at home if i was not told to do so as trying to draw up some plans of a school with a deadline for next week is no easy task when the rest of the team are in the office.... i guess it is better being safe than risk getting the whole team ill.

I have just started a course
Symptoms, high temp, bunged up nose persistent relentless unproductive cough with a shortness of breath, a sever lethargy unable to get off the bed, bad headache diarrhoea. and have not eaten a thing since Tuesday
My dad lost 2 brothers to spanish flu before he was born and therefore used to laugh at people who said they had flu. He would say if you had flu you would know about it. And he is right. I have never been as sick as this. I will start coughing, cannot catch my breath my body then goes into a nasty vicious circle where I am fighting to breath and cough at the same time. the cough becomes a wretching and the next thing I know have vomited. Shivers and sweats marvellous.
I am sticking with my own diagnosis of I am a swine with flu. I am now on my second day of the tamiflu and feel relatively good as the symptoms are subsiding. I had not slept from Wednesday. Last night was my first nights sleep even though I had to get up 3 times. I did sleep between.
I phoned my GP yesterday under duress from the wife. They would not come out to me, simply instructed me to talk to the flupandemic service.
I still feel poorly but a 1000 times better than I was 2 days ago

i was on it about 2 weeks ago. i hated staying at home, i couldnt wait to get back to work. lol
get well soon
i had a few of the symptoms yesterday - temp 39.4 runs puking sore legs. too ill to phone doctors, just slept all day in between chucking. got up at 3 this morning and took paracetamol and feel better today, temp down, stopped chucking. still dont want to eat and have runny nose now. hope it was just a bug and that baby doesnt catch it.
I don't get sick pay, if I get it, they're all havin' it... Bastids the lot of 'em...

nope. been there, done that. Tamiflu really worked for me though, apart from the initial sicking it back up. Keep with it and feel better soon. I got given it because I'm asthmatic and prone to respiratory infections.
they keep saying that for most peopel it'll be mild viral infection that passes quickly.
