Have been reading various threads about replacing clip ons etc, and am still a bit confused about a couple of things.
I have got a chance of getting a 2000 naked top yolk for my 2000 s bike, question is-
Does the naked yoke fit my faired curvy with no mods, as the the ignition barrel hole looks different?
What bars can I fit to the yoke and will they fit without hitting the fairing and screen.
Will new cables be needed or can the originals be kept when using some bars?
The yoke Im looking at has no risers with it, so can you buy bars and risers as a set or are any risers suitable as long as they fit the bars?
Basically Im looking to fit a naked bar set up to a faired bike with the minimum of hassle.
Might just fit higher clip ons like FJ 1200 as suggested .
Thanks for any help.

I'm 90% through doing mine, as i'm waiting for new brake lines, i can recommend the yokes that www.998cc.com (http://www.998cc.com) sell as they have just started machining their own and they look the biz, they sell all the risers, bars etc.
You dont have to buy the whole kit as i did but the guy told me if you mention me as im a member of this forum with the first of their yokes he would do some discount for org members.
I can post some pics later if you want.

That looks good and I might go down that route if doing it the "cheap" way isnt an option.

It defo can be done 'cheap', speak to LEE67 as he has done his i think for around 100 quid or so with no major hassles.
I'm sure he could point you in the right direction.

Yoke fits straight on
Re cables , definiely need new clutch cable, possible choke cable(but that's the one that'd cause least problems so could retain). When it comes to throttle cables, IIRC could be re-routed(or some people have) but personally I prefer to change them.
Brake hoses would need changing...dependign on if you sti have OE hoses or the length of your current aftermarket braided hose if fitted. What hoses have you got at the moment
Almost definitely have to trim the screen(atleast) and OE screen is easier to work with/make fit....though all depends on bars used.
Any riser can be used provided the fit bars and hole for the bottom half clamp.
As an aside, I know a man with a yoke set(clamps and top yoke) or some angled risers from an XV125 or 250.
In any case, there is not much hassle which ever way you go but never expect(well I don't lol) Mods to go all swimmingly well, even if previously done by someone else.... something always needs tweaking ;)

Cheers Ben, previous owner has fitted braided brake hoses to front brakes but they dont look like there is much extra play in them.
He also fitted a double bubble screen.
Will screen have to be trimmed no matter what bars I use?
I have the same set up, using very flat bars tho and only changed braided hoses, HEL are usually a bit too long anyway, Screen ears cut off...
The only thing I need to neaten it up is a 22mm clamp for my front brake reservoir.

What size/make of replacement bars are best for ease of fitting?
Any 7/8" 22mm will fit, Mine are about 700mm wide and flat with little or no rise.

Where is the best/cheapest place to get these bars, do they need holes drilled in them for the switchgear?
Thanks
Any bike spares shop, ebay, online supplier, you do need to drill the switch gear locating holes, but it's easy.

Banditmania do them with switchgear holes already pre drilled for extra couple of quid - I have put naked top-yolk (25 QUID E BAY) on mine - all cables do fit but need careful re-routing - longer front brakehose fitted (just got a complete front set cheap off off e bay and used the one of the splitter to lower fork hoses in place of master cylinder to splitter) - BIGGEST RENTHAL STREETFIGHTER BARS FROM BANDITMANIA FITTED- (massive rise) - I have double bubble screen fitted which has been modded/cut out (really easy) - had to use chewys mirror extentions as all you can see is you elbows without this mod (you could make your own I guess) - the whole shooting match was in the region of £100 - happy to send you a pic of mine if required

Cheers Alan, never thought about the mirrors!
I take it the brake resevoir is well out of the way of the screen as its pretty close to mine on the original bars?
And it doesnt interfere with the top fairing?

http://sv650s.yolasite.com/ you can see how I routed cables in this pic - clutch cable was routed same side of forks as the throttle i.e. now on outside unstead of both through the middle - be careful/check you dont jam up clutch cable as I did when refitting switchgear because of high bars - mine jammed under the carbs cos I was pulling like billyo to get it on to handlebar but was easy to unjam from under once on and slack was back.
Brake cylinder was a breeze - just rebent original bracked the other way in a vice and bugged it on convienient handlebar crossbrace
good luck with yours - best mod I have ever done and well worth it - position now is like riding a trial bike --goodbye bad back
