Does it still need to be an AGP card? Limits your choices a lot, that, it's an almost dead format now

Indeed... There is naff all now :(

Looks like you are a little out of luck with getting one that high spec...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1GB-ATI-Radeon-HD-4650-1024MB-AGP-Graphics-Card_W0QQitemZ110417018906QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Co mputing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Card s_TW?hash=item19b55e001a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1690|293%3A1| 294%3A50

Good, well its ok... £95 though :( Nothing else I could really recommend.

You might be better saving up about £400 and building another from scratch tbh.

Well unless he's up for changing the motherboard, ram and processor it will be. It could be worse he could be running a PCI graphics card or even worse on-board.

Richie if you can find anything like a Nvidia 7 series AGP card that should be alright. Nvidia 6 series at worst I'd personally say but it's been a long time since the AGP days. :D

Might be worth a shot. I had the X1600 on my old PC which was good, and this one is better and runs shader model 4.

There were a few boards that had both AGP and PCI-E, we've got one in the spare PC here. So nyah ;)

Check on ebay, old pc components go for not very much if they are more than a year old. I've picked up a nice geforce dual-head graphics card on there a year or so ago for about 20quid.

I need to get an AGP card for my music PC too (so I can run bigger/multi monitors and resolution). You can still get them from DABS and PC World do one- you're looking at £40-80.

He did say PCI not PCI-e. Incase you missed that. :smt017

PCI-e is the future now.

Sorry :( I did have a 6800GT a while ago which would probably do you for Halo but I gave that away a while ago...

I do have a pretty good Mobo and CPU, well it was the top of the Athlon XP tree, best nforce 2 mobo... but there isnt my much point you having that as it wouldn't be much of an improvement.

Sorry buddy

There are plenty of games on the Mac these days.

They just happen to cost a lot more.

I long for a Mac and Logic again- Cubase just doesn't cut it for me in the same way- but needs must...

Free game you should have a go at;

www.battlefieldheroes.com (http://www.battlefieldheroes.com)

Its free and very fun imo. :)

All you have to do it make an account install it and make a hero and play :D

Only thing to note is that you might have trouble making a Hero, I did. If you do then put your name you want to call it in brackets. E.G. mine is (Sgt)...

If you do get it then let me know and can try and play in same game.

My old G4 is starting to feel so slow, it might as well be running valves!

Great for the guitar amps- not so good for CPU processing...

I have just spent the past 10 mins looking at new base units as mine is becoming very dated (its not that bad really just 5 years old!). After pricing the parts its seems cheaper to buy a box from Mesh

Not sure what's already been said as trawling through it all's a bit much like work but I got a nearly new one off ebay that turned out to be the best value. Found a sensible one on the web (think it was a geforce gt 7800 twin card thingy not crossfire the other manufacturers one) then got it half price preloved off ebay.

Just so you know, I actually thought that a 'valve graphic card' must be some new retro geeky thing. Doh!

Once you've seen the warm image from a valve graphics card, you'll never go back to soulless microchips.

Oh, I just presumed you meant a Graphics card that could play Valve games... They make Half Life and all those. Ha ha.
