These boots are fantastic, feel like slippers on and I tried loads of different ones, these were the only ones that fitted properly.
Really sturdy too with the CE protection and torsion control. I thought everyone was mad when they said they squeak but 3 days in and they've started, bit of grease will sort that out though.
Much recommended

I've had these for just over a year, 13,000 miles and still going strong. Held up well in my off and definitely saved my left foot/ankle.
Love 'em to bits and the squeaking becomes reassuring after a while :)
Some silicone spray normally sorts that though.
I got some in white and i love them :D trouble is i have to pull my leathers up a bit to fit my shins in which wasnt a problem when i had my sidi vertigos, havent had them squeak yet but every so often the right boot's torosion system slides down the back behind the heel bit when walking, but not all the time and still love them, they just feel so comfy and snug, but then again my sidis where a bit too big :p i rate them :thumright:

Received my blue ones today, perfect fit and will have their first outing this weekend. If they are anything like my Oxtar, I shall be well pleased....only a blue crash helmet to go and I will be a head to toe Power Ranger and I dont care

Awesome, awesome boots.Got the goretex version and they **** on all yours as I can wear them in torrential rain all day long and have bone dry feet at the end. Every meet I've gone too i.e the weekend biking trips I've always packed trainers but never bothered with them as 1. the boots are just as comfy 2. my feet aren't wet from riding as they might have been.
Oh and the toe sliders don't fall off (as seems to be an issue with lots of other boots )

At last, first go on the bike today with my new boots....as above but I had a little trouble changing gear as the boots seem to be deeper? (to fit between gearchange and footrest). Got over that eventually and I am very pleased with them....especially the vents.
I had the same issue with shifting up, they're quite big I think.
Was also going to get the goretex ones but I've already got waterproof ones plus the goretex ones have less support and aren't as flashy looking :)

Same, but i was too used to my sidi's now they are great, Gortex ones are the same, just with gortex in them, same style, same shape and same build. thing they only come in black though
Guys
I had problems with the gear change but found that the rear heel guide was restricting my foot movement. I took out the two cap head screws holding on the guide and shaved about 3mm off the top with a Stanley Knife. That allowed my foot to extend under the lever easier. I also chamfered the front of the heel on the right one to help with the way I move my foot to the brake on the track. Two very minor mods that improved the boots 100%.
They also saved my left foot when it was crushed onto the frame / heel plate when a 206 hit me side on. any less of a boot and I think I would have had very serious injuries. All that reinforcing and stiffness of the foot area definately worked. VERY VERY highly recommended.
Still squeek like there are mice taped to the sole though !!

Yeah, ive got the Gore-Tex ones and was thinking about starting a thread on here recommending them.
Ive had them over a year and commute daily all year round in them and they are perfect in all situations. Dont leak, and dont get to hot in the summer either. I found them difficult to change gear at first and found them a bit uncomfortable overall, but with a week or two they had broken in a bit and are now perfectly comfortable. I'm going to the MCN show next week and i havnt got a problem walking around in them all day.
Probably my best bit of kit, definately recommended

How waterproof would people say the Competizione S 's are?
I have a pair of sidi evos that are getting abit worn and was looking at another pair of boots as some is coming soon.
Also how cumfy are they to walk around in?
Thanks Brock.

Only had them like a year and a half but never had a drop in (and I've been in some horrendous showers for hours).
They are also extremely comfy, I bought them because of this. I tried on loads of different brands which I couldn't even get my feet in despite trying on sizes bigger than what I should have been wearing, but when I grabbed a tcx the same as my trainer size it fitted perfect - felt just like the trainers. Been to a few weekender bike meets and me being a tard inevitably forgotten my trainers (at everyone I think?) always just worn the tcxs through.

As i will have to walk about abit in them i may just stick with socks, hopefully theyll only get used in the good weather to stop my sidis from crumbling away over the summer.
Yea the plain old competizones do leak like a siv, a siv that lets water in but doesnt let it out... how ever they are a good boot and i absoultly love mine, cant wait for summer so i can get them out again :D

Yey ....positive info about the suspected swimming pool of a boot.
Comfort cooling and general fitment are on top of my list.
Just seen this has been bumped, thought I'd mention that I've found a flaw in these, I can't use them on my CBR. The toe must be too high as changing gear is a nightmare, it was a little tricky on the SV but on the CBR it's a real conscious effort to shift up, perhaps I'll get used to them but to be honest I'm not sure they'll gettye light of day as it's not much fun!

Cant you adjust the gear lever abit more then?

i got these a while ago.
they leak like a sieve! so much as look at them and you have wet feet.
there tight round my fat legs.
they squeak a lot
however i do like them. they keep your foot where its supposed to be thanks to that little draw chord bit and im not worried about them flying off in a crash. Ive also got fragile ankles (too much time in ski boots i think) and feel reasured while wearing them. I got mine cheap but if i could get the goretex ones now i would.

yea the propper ones aint too bad. i've been wearing them with thick socks through winter!
they squeak a lot
Put some silicone lube on the moving parts of the torrosion system? ( i think thats what its called) stopped mine squeaking :thumright:

Got a can sitting downstairs so thats the 1st thing ill do.
Is only when they get wet that they squeak really, but a bit of lube wont hurt them

Have you tried the mod I mentioned in post 10 of this thread ?
I had problems with the gear change but found that the rear heel guide cover was restricting my foot movement. This worked for me and gear changes are spot on now the boots have worn in.

Will definitely try, that's really helpful thanks! Is the torsion system hitting the heel guard then? Haven't got the boots in front of me but will be giving it a go!

Yes, the tounge of the heel guide changes shape to restrict ankle movement, but too much in my opinion. Look at the heel of the boot from behind and bend the foot down. You will see where the range is limited. This is where you need to trim the cover to allow more range. It's very easy to do and sorts out the gear changing. These boots definately saved my foot from extensive damage when I was side swiped by a 206. Impact was right onto my left ankle / foot. They are proper comfy too.

Just got them and they are a very nice and different fit to the sidis i normaly wear.
Now ive got all afternoon to wear them about the house to soften them up abit hopefully.
1st impressions are very good.
Ratty, I took your advice and cut about 5mm off the heel protector. Did 200 odd miles on the CBR and it helped massively!! Only a couple of hiccups but I'm going to bring the gear lever up a bit to sort that.
Thanks for helpful advice.
I'm glad it worked for you mate. Like I said, I also took a Stanly to the heel of the right sole because it was catching the footrest before I got to the brake on track. boots are now brill. Still can't creep up on anybody though :p

I found them the same sizing as trainer sizes. I'm a size 11 so just matched their 'fifty-whatever' size with uk trainer size 11. I was trying on size 13 equivalent alpine stars and couldn't even fit my feet in:confused:

Shoes are a 43, sidis are a 43 and the boots are pretty much dead fit for the same size, maybe a tiny bit big but i might just have odd feet.

Bought the Gortex ones a couple of days ago. Any of you guys had probs with the inner sole? It seems to move around and sometimes crumple up towards the front of the boot while walking. Should I just glue it down or return it?

The inner-soles shouldn't move. I'd take them back to the shop and swap them for another pair

Hmmm, not impressed. Will have words I think
I imagine they'll tell you to naff off. The inner soles are not fixed. If it bothers you just glue it down.

Did you get this sorted?
My soles have never moved in mine, although the soles are falling apart, going to find out if TCX do a sole replacement service
Guys/girls would you suggest the goretex ones over the regular boots? Ho wet does it need to be before the regular boots start to let in water?
Thanks
I've got non goretex and the water only comes in after really heavy rain. Obviously that's only if you're wearing textiles that go over the outside and aren't tucked in but that goes for any boot!
I liked the look of the non goretex ones better so I went for them. Happy with the performance.
AndyBrad

ive the non goretex ones and they are like wearing socks in the rain. dont offer much protection at all tbh but thats just my opinion
Strange, mine are nothing like that and I've been caught in quite a few downpours. Worst I've ever had is a couple of wet spots on the inside ankle.
AndyBrad
18-02-11, 09:11 AM
yea strange, i mean mine are full of vent holes. even the sole has vents in it! a right pain in a puddle!

Dunno, but mine are wearing a bit thin too so might be interested. I'd imagine if it was possible it would cost almost as much as new boots.
I called our supplier and asked about getting my non goretex version resoled and they said its not something they offer :(

25 QUID FOR A NEW ZIP! anyhow should get them back next week. He also says he can bang a new toe/heal on them if required which is interesting. not sure how it would hold up crash test wise tho?
tcx no reply as yet but after my previous dealings with nevis i am never contacting them again. would rarther buy a new pair instead of going through those muppets!

Was that the distributor?
I went to a local shop and saw they had a clearance of TCX's because they were stopping selling them, apparently because they couldn't stand the distributors.
