I'm sure i'll get mixed reactions on here, but as requested here is a photo of the bike i've been working on over the last week,

paint job is temporary, as is rear seat. Its at the shop getting a under engine buell style exhaust, loads more to come, so more photos to come.

(and yes, that is a 210 back tire)

Now that is something I'd really like to see. Will clearance be a problem?

Try snapping some pics of work in progress so you could post here please, I'm sure to copy if it looks right.
Would love a clear back end.

to be honest i was just going to get a link pipe to get around the swingarm, as the normal one passes through, and they guy in the shop was going crazy with ideas, so i left it in his very capable hands, the shape of the can being used and where it is going mean clearance shouldn't be an issue

Like the look of that. I really like the sound of the plans you have for it too, I will keep an eye on this thread.

yeah i was thinking gsxr forks, not sure whether to get bar risers with a straight bar, or keep the clip ones, which i like. Buell x1 lighting subframe and seat maybe? and new paint job,

ocr_sv
31-07-09, 10:34 PM
yeah it is, i like to be different? front wheel is gonna be painted to match with a polished rim, when i settle on a front end

reasons?

Ker-CHING!

TL cylinder offset is the other way around, whole engine is wider. There is a lot of frame modification needed, but it can, and has been done.

Ah yes, then you find the TL lump is longer, so the front wheel ends up making friends with the radiator.

Gr33k, the SV frame is way stiffer than some old GPZ1000 or something, and those dinosaurs had more grunt than a TL. You have been spoilt by modern frames :-P It will take it fine, dangerous dave reckoned to have a 110bhp SV800, and it didn't fall over or anything.

Id imagine fitting it in would require a fairly extensive modification. Id imagine doing that would perhaps make the frame a little weaker? But whatever. Might be interesting to find out. :)

what on earth did you do with a perfectly good SV

Sorry, me no likey

So that exhaust done yet? Pictures mate, pictures!
Hey I wouldn't go the TL route, too much hassle and questionable handling.
The little SV engine can be bored out for more if you'd like and I'm guessing a cheaper route to fitting the TL lump. If you wanted a TL youshould have started off withone I say.

no i would have only done that if it was gonna be a reasonably viable option, sounds like alot more effort that its worth,

be patient zunkus, i only dropped it off friday afternoon, and they aren't open over the weekend, so work may have only started today, trust me as soon as its ready i'll be there, and you will be the first to see it within the hour of me getting it back

Fat forks ( 50mm Marzocchis), custom billet yokes and a 210 on the front is what you want.......

......and the widest fatbars you can find!;)

In for a penny in for a £!

Whatever happened with this?

yorkie_chris
26-09-10, 09:46 AM
Tried to ride it... realised why all those seppo pieces of sh*t with 200 size back tyres are just show bikes and threw it in a canal.

ocr_sv
26-09-10, 01:17 PM
you not wrong, well except the threw it in a canal, there are none of them round here... it blew up, so its been sat for a while i slowly fix it, along with umpteen other projects.

it was always gonna be a show bike anyway, its quite fun to ride tho if only for the looks it gets, it was a handful to get used to but its fine. i've got a pointy to ride if i need a fix, but at the mo its still gonna get done, if just very very slowly.

The only thing that i have done that looks any different is a sv1000 rear ****, but i'm gonna jib some projects off and get this done for next spring... promise

here is the latest pic...

oh and my mum always said if you aint got nothing nice to say.....

ha, nah only kiddin, each to there own, i understand loads of people aint gonna like it, but i didnt build it for someone else, everyone is entitled to an opinion, i might not like one of your bikes!

yorkie_chris
26-09-10, 01:33 PM
Mate if I didn't take the p*ss out of seppos with no taste I'd have a boring day...

I see you made some headway on exhaust. I like cool bits of fabrication like that, I like the SSA and the way it gives space to do cool things with exhaust behind footpeg... but for me form is nothing without function... and stupid size back tyres have no function.

ocr_sv
26-09-10, 03:13 PM
fair enough, the exhaust is finished, you cant see it in that shot but there is a chopped micron can hiding under the engine there, hopfully i've find a belly pan large enough to encase it all.

As for the wheel, i'm debating doing something a little more normal, and just going to a 3 spoke vfr wheel, or ducati number, not really decided on lots of things yet

Ducati wheels have a single centre nut. The CB1000R might look good.

Hubs not cheap but very interesting if they do. Would you need rear disc and caliper I wonder.
