rear shock disposal?

I have a couple of knackered old rear shocks to get rid of. given that the contain high-pressure gas, do I need to dispose of them in any special way?

If you talk to them they'll probably want money ( lots ) for disposal or payment in body ( not bike ) parts/blood.
