For those who think James May is awesome...

Following on from the James May is awesome thread, next saturday (8th aug) we will be unveiling our Meccano Bridge down by the Liver Building, Liverpool.

The plan is to arrive early and have James cross the Leeds Liverpool canal as soon as possible.

The Meccano Bridge spans about 11m of water, and is comprised of a rather large bascule and a swing bridge that meet in the middle. I assure you it will be the biggest Meccano thing you've ever seen!!


So if anyone wants to see James and is around Liverpool next Saturday, come along, it's a public event.

Not sure if i`m gonna be on a rideout that day but I would have liked to have gone along to see that.

We went to Liverpool yesterday and found the bridge being tested!

Mr May wasn't there, shame 'cos my lad (and I) think he is brilliant! However, the designer of the bridge was doing final testing, including walking along it for the first time. The programme will be broadcast around Christmas.

ps, only just got home from doing the bridge, was up at 6.00 this morning too!

The guys on the ropes are just there to provide some stability. The bascule section wasn't actually attached to anything so we had guys manning ropes just in case!
