Mebbe you're from the future?
Isn't it the year 2011 where you're from & we've all got hover-boards?

Yes it definitely was mentioned some time ago. It might have been swindon announcing the plans infact and it's just hit the news again as it's happened.
Think they are right to however the reason is purely because they aren't making a mint off them. You know they'd stick to them despite whatever evidence they had against them if they were making the right sort of cash.

Interestingly the article reveals that their annual maintenance cost is around £60k per camera.
That's enough to pay someone to actually do some policing. And that's without any installation or repair costs.

I Don't think most static cameras earn much. and those actually funding them do not see any income back. Therefore why install such static cameras?. I know they state they place them at known accident blackspots. But far better to engineer out the blackspot than attempt to artificially limit the speed.
I note that they are not scrapping the sneaky hide behind walls, hedges etc. mobile units

yes they have done this twice before, give it another few months and the cameras will be back up and running again. this only affects the cameras in town, which i think totals four or five in 30 and 40 limits, and not the ones on the a420 to oxford as this is not swindon councils responsibility

they did as they were covered over, the ones on the a420 are not swindons responsibilty so they will not be turned off. the cameras last came back on when the local government changed
