Name my favourite Black Sabbath tune and the winner can have the 'spare' still in cellophane CD copy of Never Say Die* I 'accidently' managed to order today #-o.

*why you would want one copy let alone two is of course an interesting point :smt107.

Think of Sabbath as a number of different bands, don't try to compare them. Sabbath with RJD was top stuff.

The winner.

That didn't last long and I didn't think anyone would get it for a bit.

Well, it's my favorite today anyway, it does change a bit.

PM me your address if you want it.

...and imho Ozzy was rubbish when he left sabbath...despite having some of the better guitarists in the business around him.

Dunno but wasn't fairies wear boots written after the band at the time had a scrap with some skinheads? Or is that just a too-obvious urban myth?

I'm a bit old skool me, so it's:

Sabbath
Early Metallica (anything pre-Black album nonsense)
& Black Label Society

I read that I think on the awful (re-issue?) sleeve notes, but yes, don't know if it is true.

Why did no one mention war pigs, that is a absolute classic?

Looking back it was Sabbath that got me into the darker side of metal. These days my metal is of the extreme Scandinavian type and I would go straight for Gruttle Kjellerson or Michael Ackerfeld!

I always thought the story behind that was simply Ozzy and Geezer Butler hallucinating after smoking far too much weed in a park and saw 'fairies wearing boots' running around..? :smt033

Probably nearer the truth

the white rabbit

I think Sabbath fans can be quite polar in their likes and dislikes, as there is quite a lot of variety and even the occassional 'rather jolly tune'. I tend towards the lighter side, and there's a fair bit. And off course then there's the Dio side, but like someone said above and a bit like AC/DC there's more than one band in there over the lifetime.
