View Full Version : Org day out to Thorpe Park... Interested?

Hey guys. I'm trying to organise a day to Thorpe Park. No date has been decided just yet. Suggestions have been made that we do it after the schools go back, although in an ideal world it'll be before but nothing has been decided.
Thought I'd start a new thread following in from the Thorpe Park thread to to how many people might be interested in coming.
Ticket prices for adults (if we can get more than 10 people) would be £22 for adults and £16 for children under 12, but it'd need to be booked beforehand.
So add your name to the list if you're interested in coming (copy and paste rather than quote please :)).
Should be a laugh.

How would we get there? Would it be a w/end or day time, also you know the best time to go is for Hallowen when they have the freak show, been there once for that and that was good.

Could do halloween, but that's gonna be absolutely packed tbh.
Probably ride there myself... park right by the entrance and dump my stuff in a locker.

When my BSc did a group trip we managed to get big discounts using vouchers from those Tescos reward cards. I think it was two for the price of one, which meant everyone went for half price - reasonable alternative to booking online if you're not positive you can get enough people to meet the group booking limit.
ive got loads of 2 for 1 offer things if anyone wants them

Also there's a dedicated bike parking area right next to the entrance. Nowhere to store your helmets though (lockers were too small when I went) so might not be a bad idea if someone drove up so gear could be dumped in a car boot.
I'm up for it, depending on date of course.

Only if you're not going to use them! That'd be great. :)
I'd be surprised if we could use the 2 for 1 things on top of the group discount. I could try and find out though...

Yeah I was speaking to someone from here on msn and she said with enough points she can get it for a quarter of the price. Worth considering if you've got a Tesco's club card..

if its fairly soon (as in before october) then i'll drive so everyone can put helmets in my car if the lockers are too small :D
plus that means i dont have to walk round on a hot day (wishful thinking)in leathers :D

I don't mind driving either. Not fussed either way. Well the lockers should be big enough to put your leathers in. I wasn't planning on going round Thorpe Park in my leathers tbh. I would melt

got 3 2 for 1 tickets so 6 peeps would get in half price and got 2 £12 off vouchers. Not a great fan of fast rides so unlikely I would use them. Next time your in area Josh pop round and pick them up or maybe you could make it to the next GM meet on time ;)

What, you mean this "GM meet" wasn't just a freak accident of nature?! It might happen again?
I'd only just come to after passing out when I read about bikes being at a GM meet ;) hehe
I'll let you know when I'm gonna be nearby.
Thankyou
there were 3 bikes and only 1 car at the meet. we will progress to rideout one day

17. Raf On a weekend would be best.
People tell me during the week you actually get to go on everything without much queueing.
For those looking for a cheap hotels, Thorpe Park is closer to Chertsey than woking. There is also a direct express bus service from Staines Rail station. Staines also has one of those travelodge things.

You'd have more fun on a weekday (Much less queueing) but I'll only be able to make a weekend (Anytime after August), and would prolly ride down with the other half.
If it turns out on a weekend, put me down as a probable :)
Von Teese
10-08-09, 11:33 AM
Yes, less children about too on a weekday.
I think that it would be the best bet if people can arrange a day off during the week because it can get so busy on weekends that it can be almost unpleasant.
During the week there are less queues for rides, toilets, food drinks etc.
We will probably come down in the car and anyone who wants to leave their lids and leathers in it can do so.
Also if need be if anyone needs somewhere to stay over, dont pay for a Travel lodge,we have 2 spare rooms, room in the garden for a large tent and also 2 large leather couches so loads of room, save your £'s...pm me when we have decided a date.
We dont live close to Thorpe Park but will be driving down there anyway so its no extra hassle.

week day is best for me, but the earlier in september the better for me as after that i'll be in sheffield again, if its after sept i cant go

OK so it seems a weekday would be better. In which case it'd have to be before the 7th September (Have to double check that) as I'll be starting my course at the ACM after that. Early september could get pretty manic as it'll be the last chance for a lot of kids to go before going back to school.

i'd say before sept

Would it not possibale to create a poll with a few dates, then choose the day we can make? I really don't when and if I can come yet, as it really depends on my fitness and when and where I'm working. But the above suggestion normally works some how.
