It has happened at my place of work.

A threat was apparently made via Facebook, reported to management and the poster was fired.

Be very careful about what you type...just like I was...

Ouch! I seem to remember something similar on twitter a bit ago.

However: Does the forum rules now allow us to post links to sites with non U-rated content. I'm not in favour of that. I dont' want to click a link at work taht could take me to a dubious site/one with non-u-rated words getting displayed on my work-laptop.

what a find

-Ralph-

Happened to me.

Well I didn't get fired, handed in my notice, but my boss asked me to keep it quiet for a week or so, but no work colleagues on my friend list, only friends and family and a private profile, so I posted "that's me handed in my resignation" on a Friday night.

By Monday afternoon the entire office knew. One of the friends (who didn't know it was a secret obviously) knew an ex-colleague, who went to a party over the weekend with a current colleague and said "what's all this about him handing in his notice then"

Tbh i would sack them if it's a close knit job... i work and some days am left to run our small team family buisness... no room for bad eggs, if you want to disprispect people who employ you, and want a crapper wage i always belive you should go work in maccies (no offense to maccies) and hopalong somewhere else.

People should respect there jobs and people they work for unless they are genuinely a monster towards them.

Especially in a ressesion lots more people would really apprieciate the work and not slag it off.

just for saying she was bored tbh that is the fault of the employer for not keeping them challenged too me.

Lets be honest it's a teenager firstly so you get crap jobs... if you want more get qualified.

secondly i hate work, school, college anything... thats why i have 2 quals. too my name because i just cba... doesn't mean i would go round slagging off my work saying it's boring... i'd quietly go find another job... if you want work then don't slag it off.... would she say it too her bosses face probably not unless she wanted the sack.

So why post it somewhere for everyone to read... very disrespectful... and when your paying the wage out you'd more than likely sack them. I know we would.

wow i'd much rather work for me then i'm sure you've been down the pub one day and said to your mate's about what a ****ty day you've had at work it's just throw away banter.

Crap day at work... or summing work up on a facebook thing that hundreds of people can read and laugh or start making comments on/stirring...

If im bored at work or have had a rubbish day.. i just say not really bothered... boss, or family nowadays. And down the pub, to me theres a big difference between posting on something like facebook to what you just say to one or two people pirvatley... anything i'd ever say is something i'd bring up with or say to my bosses face first. Unless it was one bad day... but again i wouldnt start slagging offf the people who pay my wage.

Surely you see my point... it's just plain disrispectful... and if someone did that we could get 1 of another 10-15 people who ring up every few months wanting that same job.

has she slagged someone off i didnt read that well that's different if she has i was just reffering to the bored comment.

the 2nd link doesnt explain the full story really and looks one sided. it doesnt say what was exactly posted on facebook. its easy to say she just posted saying she was bored but what context was it wrote in. saying shes bored and glad the day is over is different to saying im bored which i had different job this company is c**p blah blah blah

i agree it does really depend on the context it was used in.

I dont agree with bosses taking action for whats been said on a website tbh...could you imagine the number of our own Orgers who'd get sacked for being on here as much as they are during the day for example.

However i would also be descreet enough not to put something in writing that i wouldnt want used against me....especially if you then allow colleagues or bosses access to where you wrote it.

Don't add anyone on facebook which has power over your job...simplez!

Plus, in a similar vein of thought...don't add close relatives (parents)...!

I had a feeling it would all go wrong, besides I didnt know what had happened so I tend to keep out of things I have no idea about.

Don't add anyone on facebook which has power over your job...simplez!
Thats very good advice Taz

I haven't any work colleagues or bosses on my friend list - not that it matters cos I haven't a thing to complain about in my job, I really enjoy it.

Plus, in a similar vein of thought...don't add close relatives (parents)...!

I deleted my dad from the list, but kept my sisters and kids on there, and a shedload of my cousins.

I have been spending time with a new victi^H^H girlfriend, who shall henceforth be refered to a 'A'. She's about 20 years older than my usual type, which makes her about 4 months younger than me. She's also one of my elder sister's best friends, which is really doing my sister's head in - Result!

Touchy subject, a close friend was date raped a few weeks ago by a 'friend' of hers.
