http://forums.sv650.org/images/icons/icon7.gif hello newby from preston
hello one and all
i,m another newby just sayin hello
first can i say this site is the dogs danglies wish i'd heard of it sooner
well i have a blue 99 sv650s ( curvy i belive its refered too ) which i absolutely love( more than the wife ) its standard apart from a fender extender did a das course and its my first bike, the boy who invented motorbikes was a god,
well thats me any advice on mods and everything else please let me know i intend to put a few quid into her as ive already givin the other half a wedding fairs fair
thanks in advance dave:grin:
I have been on here for 8 years. Didnt say heloo when the new site was launched
Edit: Ok just wandered back on the old site and the oldest post i could find of mine (in my former name) was 07 06 2001
I have just fitted a Twin outlet oval coloured titanium can to my blue svs. I can highly recomend this can. The blue of the can(its graduated, blue through gold to titanium) matches the bike. It sounds great, looks fantastic. When will the smiling stop? My cheeks are starting to hurt! Well worth the ?225 and the hassle fitting it(my own stupid fault not the system).
Now i need to upgrade the brakes, starting with pads(this philosophy worked on my car so i am going down the same route). Can anyone recomend better pads than stock. Some that give a better feel.
Cheers
Ian
Oh how things change! If i knew then what i do now!!

Hi, newbie question.
Im looking to buy an SV650S K4 latest model. I've already found out the servicing, price etc and have decided to go for a nice Blue one (wanted the Bronze but dont do them new  ). I've got all the normal information thats made me want to get the bike, but now im just after the more gritty details..
Performance, smoothness to ride, what you lot have had them upto on your "private test tracks" etc. Any faults anyone has been getting that u've had done under warrenty etc etc..
For me its going to be a commuter bike to work, but something I can use to go on mayday runs, Isle of Man, weekend toy too. Im sure i'll add extras like rear cans, belly pan etc etc. My other toy is a 2.0 16v Vauxhall Corsa, its my show car, doesn't get driven much.
 What more funny is seeing the older members usernames and wondering where some have gone. I ended up buying a Black Curvey K2 and not the blue one. Never went to the Isle of Man on it either, or even buy a new rear exhaust

You know you're on probabtion for the first year anyway right? If you're not humerous enough or man enough to be on here you're out.
That rule was applied a year and a day after i had joined thank god :)
I searched for my first post and the software simply said "you post to much for me to go trawling thru, now please go away"

http://forums.sv650.org/images/icons/icon1.gif stuck brake pad pin (02 curvy)
Hey all, this is my first post on the forum so just to say its good to be here, theres some great people on here.
Right on the SV650 front brake caliper there is 1/4inch or so pin which holds one side of the pads. The Haynes manual simply says "remove the R clip and withdraw the pin" it does not however account for 13000miles worth of rust!
The fix that i used when a soaking with penetrant fluid, heating with propane and a big set of grips didnt work was to simply drill the outer side of the calliper.
This exposes the outer side of the pin to the tender loving affections of a HSS punch, a 2lb hammer and some more penetrant fluid.
In my opinion this area is not stressed, so this slight bit of butchery is safe enough, and it makes it much easier to strip them next time too, the only thing is the modified calliper doesnt look as good due to the hole.
Still beats paying £15 at the breakers for a new calliper though...
Cheers
Chris
Grr I need to get used to forums, I realised the emotes I been using are sticking fingers up not thumbs...
Wasn't sure I said hi, but appears I did (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?p=1074311#post1074311) :smt107 just forgot to get the round in :drink:
Was in December 2003 - Christmas Eve I seem to remember - so it was probably 'happy Christmas from a noob'. Can't find it though as the search engine stops at March 2004.

Firstly, Vise....HELLO and WELCOME to the madhouse! Not every on here rides an Sv...I don't even have my license yet, but have my CBR400 ready to go when I do in a few weeks.
Enjoy the banter........and make the most of the site, it's full of some of the best people I have ever known and been lucky enough to become personal friends with. There are lots of people on this forum that will bend over backwards to help if you need it, laugh, take the pi$$ and so on....so enjoy it all!
My first hello??? Hmmm..............
an't find my first "hello" post, but joined when Stretchie (the one in red shirt & shorts) moved in as my lodger. Now we're together and this is just one of the fab SV650 memories we have together...

Had been lurking since April/May 2006, got my SV for my 30th b'day on 11th May, not sure when I signed up, but this was my first post. Different username back then.
Newbie to this forum, thought follow Kilted Gingers example and introduce myself with a new thread......
Not quite a new to biking, but back after a 11 year stint of needing a car to earn pennies, but not quite earning enough to run a bike as well.
Stay in Harthill (no I'm not religious and not a football fan, I just needed a cheap house!).
Just bought a new K6. Cupar Motorcycles, MO couldn't match the price and frankly didn't seem like they wanted to. Done 1500 miles in the first two weeks, partly thanks to a trip to Skye.
My Skye (and rest of bloody Highlands) trip was 26th May with guys from work. It ****ed it down all weekend. Two days, 800 miles and 16 hours riding later we thoroughly agreed with Quedos....torture! Took the last two weeks on holiday for my hands and wrists to recover! Love to hear how you guys got on on the 17th.
So hello everybody, nice to (kind of) meet you. Would be interested in a rideout any time to meet properly, so give us a shout if your'e organising and I'll keep an eye on these posts.

This was mine.
Just bought myself an SV650 today, pick her up next saturday. T Reg Naked Model 12000miles FSH with a few trick bits on it.
The names Col and I am a plant hire manager & CBT Instructor at the weekend. I ride about 300 miles a week, whatever the weather (except snow).
What is the finish on these SV's like? will it be ok in the good old English winter.
A search doesn't produce mine but I remember it only too well.
It was to let the forum know that my friend, who I knew was a member here, had had a very bad crash and was in a serious condition in hospital.
Saw the X rays of that crash again recently - didn't we Si!
earlisest one i could find (http://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php?p=738390&postcount=18)
I think my first post was asking how much it would cost to buy a round for the .org !!!
about £4000 was the reply I believe.
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=89331&highlight=lozzo+newbie
I never did put that bike on the track - I put it back to standard, kept it for 9 months then sold it after I bought the SV650S K5 that's now being cared for by Rai86
