Some of you may remember this:-

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=127422

I've come to start thinking about getting this underway in the next 12 months, mainly because it'll be 4 years this August that my cousin Ellen died and 16 years this October since my other cousin Eleanor (Elly) died.

I've kind of changed the parameters a little as I feel that a charity covering the general function of referring people to the necessary authorities and arming all people that need it with the necessary information would be more widely needed that just concentrating on eating disorders.

It seems the older I get, the guiltier I feel that I am carrying on with life and am ridiculously happy with Stretchie, when people I loved so bl00dy much had that taken away. What that gives me is the desire and passion to actually do something to help others, rather than just moan that the authorities don't do enough.

I was very emotonal when I wrote that first thread. In fact, I feel that the health care system is under a stupendoues amount of stress with very limited resources, so rather than condemn them, I really would like to, in the next 6 months, get something started to help families go through what my family has gone through.

If any of you fab and mighty orgers have any experience of setting up charities, bulding web sites, outsourcing functions, understanding the legalities of offering advice/referring to professional bodies etc, then I would really be most grateful fo ryour help.

Sorry for writing this on a Friday night, but if it was daytime and I hadn't had a few Baileys and a beer, I'd not want to "bore" you all with it, if you know what I mean. That said, it would mean a lot to me if any of you can help.

Big hugs to all xxx

I very much doubt i could offer any help that a fellow orger couldn't provide better, but i think it is a wonderful idea and will keep an eye on this thread to see how it goes...

would love to help fundraising in some form at a later date though.

Thank you very much GB.

if there are any accountants that can advise what the best ways would be to get a treasurer etc I'd be greatful for that info too.

I wouldn't want to be in charge of the money side of things.....I'd leave that to the peeps in the know and I would stick to fundraising, PR & marketing as that's what I know!

where there is a will there is a way, my love.
You know you can always count on a bunch of bikers you know to show up for a charity ride to help raise some funds towards this worthy cause.
I have a friend on FB who is currently winding down a charity she runs and if the mighty Org is lacking in the knowledge you require, rest assured i will ask her for you and get the info across to you :)
