New swingarm! Why?
ThEGr33k
21-08-09, 03:24 PM
Well three reasons... First because the origional one had a crack in it, been needing to do it for a while.
Second, because I can :p
Third because it was cheap!
Yes wideboy it came like that. :)
Hovis, good spot, I forgot about that... ha ha but that is a difference.
Just noticed the back wheel needs a damn good clean! bah
To be honest I think this is a "bling only" mod, I'd rather spend my money on petrol.
But I have to say it looks the dogs danglies :smt118 I want one!
Where did you get the swinger from? Any problems with fitting it?
Idiot question, do you have to cut the chain to fit it?

Ebay. Was £65 delivered. There are a couple of little marks but tbh for the monies I cant grumble! Keep an eye out and there will be one for you im sure.
Fairly easy change. Straight swap so its as hard as removing and re fitting. Can take some time as its a little fiddley. It is quite compact in there. Yes I had to brake the chain. To get the same one to fit I had to put a 15tooth front sprocket on as it was too short, this swing arm is about 5mm longer ha ha. No biggie though as I wanted to go back to shorter gearing anyway. :)
I got a spare chain as well now, just incase the old one still wouldn't go back on with the 15 tooth front...

Yea, they are ha ha. I think it looks better without them and tbh they were getting a little tatty.
I still need to spray it as the other side is erm... looking a little damaged but I cant think what to do with it! White?

Nice looking bike Gr33k, glad to see you still got it and that the modifications are starting.
The original RSV swingarm has always been a thing of beauty, lost count how many times I used to polish mine. The later one isn't so good, to angular in my opinion.

Where's the tyre writing?:).......does look good tho:smt045
luvly jubbly.... buuuut, i think it would look really nice if you got some decals made for the tank instead of the 3 red striped how about the Italian green, white and red stripes then continued the theme throughout e.g. where they are red, white and yellow i would swap for Italian colours.
p.s. love the swingarm
Keep an eye out and there will be one for you im sure.
I hope I won't find one ;) and I'll need a black Tuono one to match the frame.

I like it!
Mille swing arm? what's the mudguard off
I was working with the rotax factory when the falco was first brought out. They let me have a squeeze and I've had a soft spot for all these bikes since.

the second photo seems to be broken :(
When you getting the spray job? I would suggest some kind of blue/white colour scheme, or perhaps black and gold.

Luckily, I don't have a riveting tool and don't know how to split or rivet a chain :)
phew, that was close

Whats the dimensions of the swing arm when considering the mounting points of a curvy SV?
By the way I like the new hose, good work.

Hmph. I can have a measure if you like but I think the whole linkage is very different. Though ive had a look and there is a chance it might work...
Ill have a quick measure for you when I get a chance. :)

You need to be looking at the Aprillia RS250 swingarm for this.

Swingarm angle is wrong and I wish i had a better angled bike pic to work with but you get the idea.
Is there any point apart from looks though?

The view of the other side. You can see why I need a spray job doing fairly easily here... :(
Still the swinger looks nice from this angle too.

Is that a known mod?
Known but not very common, similar to the RGV swap but requires a few other modifications too.
Is there any point apart from looks though?
Nope, just looks. The standard Curvy SV frame and swingarm are more than capable.
