I'd say it is actually a backdrop. Beyond the two chairs and table is a large image of the garden rather than an actual garden

The wall on the left is a Roman cistern (castella), part of the great Roman Aqueducts water system.
This appears to have been one of the public fountains, although possibly could have been a bath.

Apparently still in use??? (of sorts)
There's pipes coming from it!

Is that not the answer Zig? The fact that it was taken in near darkness with no flash (not that that would've been effective for this shot).
Would be very impressed if he wasn't resting the camera on something though ... it'd blur the shot with the slightest movement when using such a slow shutter speed and long exposure.

Of course I am no expert and could be chatting a load of the brown smelly stuff lol

there are no shadows only reflections, and it was taken with an ExposureTime of 15.00 Seconds.

the light in the sky is the moon, probably behind the rain cloud. and the lights on the ground behind the tress are flood lights.

Apart form to Hovis, you need to learn some patience my friend ;).

Winner is:

Is it actually nightime and the light is coming from lightning?

The picture was taken at midnight in the pitch black! A huge lightning storm had just hit and there was almost continuous lightning happening all around the clouds, nothing was touching down. As Mr superb detective Richie found out, I stuck on a long shutter speed which as you know at night normally comes out black with some lights lit up, and it came out looking like complete day!
