ProTools 8 (LE) Vocoder?

Just a question for pro tools enthusiasts...

I've got PT8 LE which I must say blows my mind, with the plug-ins and MIDI instruments. And from October I can use PT8 HD in studios at uni, with surround mixing on full-range speakers. Mmm:smt055

But, how can I make a vocoder in LE?
I've tried various things and failed, given up, walked away and come back annoyed.

My housemate can make one using LogicPro and I want to make one on ProTools...

Any ideas?

Haven't used ProTools in a very long time my version was 6.something so I am way out of touch. I assume there must be a plug in do do this, not sure how you would 'make' one though.

Not used protools, still no VST support for it? An alternative would be running a standalone app and rendering a wav of the vocoded signal and then just loading that as a sample into protools. I don't use vocoders in my music, but when I was messing around with them a few years back, I found this was quite good and the price is right:

If there's not a standard vocoder plugin in PT, you'll need to find one (it'll have to be RTAS- that's the proprietry plug-in format for Protools- VST or AU will need a wrapper to run).

After that, use it as usual- it should come with assignable side chain inputs to define the source and carrier sounds from your other tracks.

There are two vocoders DigiDesign recommends but they're gonna cost about $270+

So instead i think i'll leave out wierd voices for now, they'll probably have them in the studios if ever i need a vocoder. Just wanted to have a bit of a play.
