Ok.........after finding myself the rather lucky winner last month, I guess I had better give you all a new theme!

After thinking long and hard, I decided the theme shall be:-

"Desolate"

So........we're talking devoid of people like a desolate wilderness, desolate house, desolate valley, desolate farm......you know what the word means, so interpret as you see fit and I can't wait to see the photo's as they're always fantastic!

Good luck guys :smt003

Here's mine, nice choice of topic for the month, given the varying definitions of the word I decided to opt for: "lay waste to: cause extensive destruction or ruin utterly; "The enemy lay waste to the countryside after the invasion"

A rather niche image but I like it, one of the few favourites I've taken that I'm in :D

Taken in a WWII ruined building near Whitchurch, Shropshire.

I think mine satisfies the weird criteria, and there are already some wonderful images already that really portray the classic idea of desolate.

Looks like its gonna be a good'un.

it was -5, with ice on puddles so thick you couldn't break it by jumping on it. I eventually found one where the water underneath had somehow drained away, so I smashed the ice with a rock, and it was about 3 inches thick.

Bizarrely, as we'd been walking energetically for several miles, I found I could handle ice in my bare hands without it hurting. But as it was so cold, the ice didn't melt in your hands either.

Kaiser didn't care about this at all and just bounded all over the place in his usual floppy manner.

Taken from the top of Mount Mitchell last weekend.
Highest point in the eastern USA in the area known as the Black Mountain region of the Appalachians.
The dark appearance (when viewed from a distance) is because of the dense evergreen forests that cover the top of the mountains above 5000 ft.

Email the photo to your email inbox. The way I do it is to send the immage as an mms message, but when it asks for the number, I can also choose to enter an email address. That works perfectly for me and I send it to my hotmail, but there's time left yet if you can use someones media card reader to just upload your phone pics to your pc.

Reason: I have looked at this picture so many times and for so long and still I haven't seen everything there is to see in it. It's a totally desolate building, yet the ray of light shining in for some reason just makes me smile.......Desolate it is; bereft it is not!
