After a year of living in this house we decided to move to a bigger and generally better one. However i'm going to miss my view from the bedroom and the bats flying around my garden in the evening. Still at least i'll have more space to fill up with my daughters toys:).
Thank god I didn't do much DIY, that would have been a waste lol.

what a nightmare, we have lived in our rented house for a year and I never ever ever want to move again - so stressful. moving from scotland whilst pregnant didnt help

since i have been married (10 years in Nov) i have lived in 7 houses. The house I am in at the moment we have been in for the longest so far 2 and a half years. This is due to my job and the accommodation provided but my wife has said that we will not be moving again for a long time.

I still live in the first house I bought. 25 years ago. I couldn't face having to empty the garage.

when I shifted my dad it was a nightmare. 2 lathes, milling machine, compressor, 4 post lift. and then buggering about trying to get a 3 phase in his new garage was impossible so we then had to sell them. Ok, truth is we dropped them in the garage, 6 months later he was dead and we could then sell his stuff. 3 phase problem could have been solved with an invertor.

But still got the same problem here. I would probably need an industrial shifter. Plus after all my DIY who would buy my house?

I have to say moving is one of my least fav things to do, it takes months to pack up my stuff and yet I have found I can unpack in less then a day! :(

boxes are great... been in my house 4 years now and cardboard boxes are still in use.

I'm in the unenviable position of having to finish all the DIY jobs I started at my gfs house so we can look at moving. So i'm building decking and fitting a bathroom suite that i'll probably never use

looking at doing the same at the minute. been in this flat for a year and so far the following has gone wrong

washing machine
boiler condemned
shower nearly caught fire from dodgy wiring
cooker broken
unexplained plague of flies
bath leaking into neighbours below

problem as always is trying to find somewhere to rent as this contract expires as we cant afford two lots of rent...

Moving towards the end of September and my days are filled with furniture sniping on ebay... It's three weeks to the actual move and I've had enough already :smt099 At least we are moving to a bigger place with a garden so something to look forward to...

Well it's official, we get the keys on Tuesday which will give me 3 weeks to get out of here. No problem, be sorted and moved by the 9th. Unboxed and living properly by the 12th next year ;-) .

3 weeks! That's just unfair - we'll have 2/3 of a day to move out and 2 days to move in, buy and transport all furniture and possibly paint the new place.......

Worst moving experience:

Agree to help friends move, everything packed in boxes until we open the shed door. Paint, bikes, mower, tools everywhere. Aaaagh!!!

Keith's Rule for moving house:

If it fits in a box, put it in a box. If it doesn't, get a bigger box!

Worst moving experience:

6:30am on the morning of the move, van due in just over an hour, dearest wife goes full on into labour (2 weeks late). Wife goes to hospital, i wait for van. Van arrives, i go to hospital. i return to finish packing and drive 70 miles to new house. Estate agent won't release the keys to me because they've not been instructed by solicitor, who is on holiday in the Carribean.

I return to house to tell the removals people its they've got to put it all in store only to meet meter reader, who's been given a key. He opens the door, and is nearly killed in the rush - result.

I beat the Xmas rush and decide to either get p!$$ed or have a mental breakdown - get p!$$ed wins.

And it's a girl, now 20.

Worse moving experience:

All packed up for move the following day, contracts exchanged etc. Buyer rings me to say that she's just told her husband she's leaving him and that they'll have to pull out of the move.
So next morning, instead of moving house we're trying to cancel as much as possible.
