Anyone know a good place to go to get the SV serviced in Birmingham? The last owner had it serviced about 18 months ago but only rode about 250 miles on it since then :smt120 so I think it should really be done!

I just had mine back from service at Streetbike Halesowen. Nice people but seemed abit steep. I would recommend Sherwood Suzuki in Hall green just off Robin Hood Island. Really friendly small shop with lots of good reports from customers.

If you can get to Redcar in Leicester i believe, they are a small but reliable Suzuki dealer with one dedicated mechanic.

Most people like them. Not heard much good about Streetbike though.

Fred hanks slade road erdington. Good value and offers lots of advice if asked how to do stuff. Real old style garage - they race side cars so call before hand as they close some weekends.

I'm also after this for the 30k (or is it 29k) service, anyone here done one in Brum and can recommend a place for this? I know the 30k is pretty huge and it would be nice to go somewhere I can trust that wont cost an arm and a leg..

if you don't mind a blast up the M6 go to C G Chells (suzuki dealer) in Stafford I have had 3 bikes off them (inc 2 sv's) and they have always been reasonable for servicing.

I have to be inside Birmingham area so I was looking at Streetbike and Redline motorcycles. Redline are cheaper and seem like good guys, anyone have any other suggestions, I'm only asking as I have no idea AT ALL about where to get servicing done and don't want to go somewhere that's overpriced/rubbish. I can change brakepads, do fork springs etc but doing the valve clearances for the 30k sounds awful..

Well mine is in Sherwood Suzuki in Yardley Wood as we speak, im going back to collect it tomorrow morning (and to pay the bill:smt090). Ill let you know how it goes but so far the guy there seems to be thoughly decent, he kindly allowed me to leave my bike in the workshop tonight as I had difficult work commitments that prevented me collecting it this afternoon.

I'm near the centre in Edgbaston area. Need to find a bike shop I can get public transport/taxi back from. Let me know how Sherwood Suzuki are, cheers.

Well I collected my bike from them earlier, I have to say im very happy with Sherwood. Twas a 4000 mile service and cost 154 quid. For that i got new engine oil filter, gasket, drain plug, silkolene engine oil and brake and clutch fluid. He allowed me to leave my bike in the workshop overnight for my convienience and he also turned my quite dirty bike into a nice and shiney clean one :D

Yardley wood train station is within walking distance of the garage too if that any help to you.

Have given them an email asking for price on the 30k, is good that it's next to train station! I have no idea if £154 for a 4k is any good though, anyone care to enlighten me?

from dealer its ok but valve clearances arent as bad as they sound, buy a haynes manual.

If your willing to wait around for the service try highways motorcycles in wolverhampton i think there great but not the cheapest, i use them for the annual mot and service just to have a professional give the sv a quick look over.
my mate uses Quarry bank but they suck at valve clearances when i checked them for him after the service they was out of the allowances.

Sherwood priced it up at £200 + parts + vat, does that sound good? Can't do anything more serious than suspension as only have a universal centre stand and a gravel drive..

fred hanks is just past villa ground easy to get to - might have to phone as he damaged his back in an off whilst racing.
