got pulled over in the cage for speeding last night. doing 50 in a 40 (Going towards barnton at the cramond brig).... ok big deal you say.. ahhh but it was no ordinary police car it was a .....

fekin armed response unit that pulled me, bit freaky getting a 'pat down' (i have previous and they have access to ALL records even spent ones :() while looking at their M16's in the front of the car and them having side arms on as well...

ended us having a good old laugh and banter.

good news is they never charged me with speeding.... whooooohooooo, just a warning... thanks lads....

Ive seen armed responce ignore major traffic violations before. I think they think they are to good to give out tickets and do the paper work!! Would be a cool job though. What where they driving?

Don't understand why an ARV stopped you?! Anyway, can't book you for speeding as I would imagine they wont have A) a (speed) gun, B) calibrated speedo B) the video thing that I can't remember the name of.....!

Not for speeding. Careless driving maybe.

naughty boy -

that bit of road catches a lot of people out, normally there is a speed trap sitting in the lay by beside crammond brig pub.

They do do other stuff when not chasing down armed loonies ;) Think most* LBP cars do have the stuff they need to deal with traffic offences, including VASCAR ;)

just had a look on the net and yes they were MP5's.

when the officer come over to the car he said that they have one of those calibrated speedo/video things in the car. i asked to see the calibration cert, he said its at the depot..

yes i know about the scamera van sitting at the lay-by, you can see that for miles though...

oooohhh the car was a newish white 4x4 thing but not a land/range one. i saw them in my rear view as they followed me but what threw me off was the single orange beacon on top with a bar but the bar was black, i thought it was a motorway maintenance car.. boy was i wrong...

me a jammy git, hhhmmmm we shall see, although he let me off with it, that will depend if it gets submitted to the proc. i have had this situation before albeit many many years ago.

to be honest i think they were just board and wanted something to do (and show off there guns). what was a bit strange to me was the fact they left the nearside door open with guns in full view when patting me down.

another thing i found really strange is they never asked my passenger (brother) anything, nor searched/checked the car.

the whole experience was kinda cool to be honest, although there was a bit of banter it was mostly 'yes sir no sir' kinda stuff.

The ones I spoke to were in a massive blacked out Audi A8, but a white 4x4 is suprising. Even more so using an orange beacon! Also they arent alloud to leave the car unocupied with all the cool weapons and gadgets in it, so leaving the door wide open for all to see is rather strange!

they pulled me using the 'blues and two's'

they had probably just dropped off mr brown in north queensferry. you can always tell when brown pants is at home as the place surrounding the bridge is crawling with dodgy cars in lay-bys and joggers. lol

Yeah, I do know that but certainly, they try NOT to get involved and tied up with silly things incase they are needed at the other side of the city on more pressing business!

Very true but knowing where this happened and the direction they were heading, I'd guess they were just trying to waste a few minutes before shift end back at Fettes

If it had an orange beacon on it, I'll bet my bottom dollar it was the airport car.

L&B ARV's use different vehicles and don't carry their weapons on their person routinely. Airport car is different though.

+1 on it being airport plod. All vehicles required to drive on any airfield roads should have an amber flashing light.
