Yesterday i removed my back wheel to get a puncture fitter, then put it back in.
My rear break does not move in the same way anymore!
i cant understand whats wrong, it seems when you tighten up the front sliding mounting bolt it makes the caliper twist a bit when it is being used,
pads are in correct,
caliper spring is correct,
i cant see im missing a bit

It does still works although it moves wonky and there is excess slack than before, but when i ride it rubs and disc get red hot!

i also got out the manual! assemble just how it said,

I cant see whats wrong?

perhaps if you had your location in your profile, someone in the know could pop round and have a look, or indeed if you provided pictures, discs don't run "red hot" for no reason.

Cheers Mark.

looks like a pointy in your picture. The pointys have like a locator tab on the swingarm, it the slot on the caliper over this?

The thing is my rear piston for my sv650s k6 looks no different except when being applied it moves funny and rubbs...I have un assembled and re assembled about four times now and taken out the wheel again to make sure nothing is amiss there

and I presume cleaned the piston/round the seal and made sure it works smoothly in the caliper, re-greased the slidding pins as well :smt102

Cheers Mark.

Depending on what time i finish tomorrow fred, i could pop over and have a look for ya. I;m no expert mind you but will be on my own pointy so at the very least we can comapre and check it that way.
I have stripped my brakes right down before so i have a fair idea of whats what and where it all goes too. I assume you have all the required tools should be need to get our hands dirty?

yes all done! all greased. The sliding movement of the caliper is fine and without the mounting bolt tightend up it slideds across great and the slack is as it was.... but as you tighten the front mounting bolt (which the caliper slides along anyway! :smt102) when thats pinched up it works asif something is bent!?

You haven't got a wheel spacer in the wrong place have you?

Goodpoint

On the left (standing at the rear of the bike) you should have one that looks like a chunky metal polo, on the right it should look like a tophat, with the base bit against the wheel bearing IIRC

the caliper spring is not bent and theres no difference with it out! so its not that. My dad has another guess- in the past dealers are obsessivly tightend the spindel, the big aluminium spacer that the caliper attaches to may be fractured ...although im grasping at straws now!

dust seals, the piston could be looser! but its clean and greased so it could be the dust seals...also previously i have used copper slip around the piston and that can cause the rubber seals to swell, so rubber grease is best!

Never use copper slip on any brake components other then the rear of the pads mate. It will ruin your pistons and caliper bore, not to mention the seals. It is an abrasive and not meant to be used as a lubricant for moving parts. alsways use good quality red grease (or clear equivalent silicon safe stuff).
