Ok in the first quater of next year once i've got some money to one side i'm debating on getting some bits for my sv. I really love the bike and don't want to sell it. But theres a few issues which are making me wonder whether to look at something else.

Firstly Comfort.... Are Gel Seats a worthy option? Anything i can do with my suspension and are there any upgrades i can make to help make it a comfy bike.

Someone did recommend Heli bars to me, but i can't find them for the 650 again any ideas i find the SV gives me terrible aching down the lower of my arm and my **** gets numb essentially :D.

Secondly colour, does anyone think a respray is an option, those of you who know me know i have that k6 weird light sky metalic blue and it's never quite 100% hit it with me. Anyone have any ideas on sprayjobs? Do they last? Price ideas? Are they worth it or just get another SV for this one before i have any other work done?

Basically i love the SV engine etc... but i am hating the ride position and comfort atm? Is it even worth just getting an older pointy but again it means selling stuff and i do prefer a sporty look.

I want to do some european touring in the 3rd quater of next year plus all the SV.Org weekends and feel comfort is essential.

Cheers Matt.

your probabley looking at about £500 for a pro to paint it, yorrkie chirs could matt black it for £20 and beer

gixxer front end and shock should cost £200 if you can get the parts

have you tried raising your levers a bit, i did and found it loads better

dunno about the seat

higher bars for sale here

Do the Gixxer shock and front end just make it perform better, or will it actually make the bike comfier?

Raising the bars, will it make the bike just look abit poo that was my only concern.

Jesus a paint job is expensive, prehaps i would trade the bike in just for a paint job i like first. Hmmm so many options what to do, i love the SV wouldn't mind a naked possibly would solve the comfort.

But i also would love to own a street triple! Grrrrr.

GSXR front end will be free once you sell you're SV front and believe me that massively improves comfort. Especially on the wrists etc. Also a 70 profile front tyre helps too.

Trade in for a naked sv in the colour you want!

test rides....

Try other bikes out, there's no point polishing a turd (unless you really really love that turd). I have a gel seat and my **** still canes on long trips, where as the curvy naked it never did. Rest of me is fine so I'm guessing it's the seating position although the more long trips I do the better it gets.
Arms - check your levers are at the right position

Colour - meh it's a colour there are some gorgeous ones but as I think yorkiechris says fairings are consumeables...

how many engines have you tried? I'd be tempted by a viffer or something if I was in your position.

Oh and gsxr shock and uprated springs make a world of difference - but only really to handling/performance

edit:You'd probably do better selling your fairings on ebay and buying some as a colour you like btw but a respray will last forever (ish) and pro jobs look good but could be up to £500. Naked's a good idea. Or helibars might be a worthwhile investment (org discount/ebay) or slightly raised clipons

Yeh i dunno, not tried many engines, if i won the lottery tomorrow reading on bikes i'd buy several.

When you say in my position you'd be tempted by a viffer? Do you mean simply because of the miles i do?

No offence to Viffers and Sprints i think they're nice bikes but i think of them as an old mans touring big ass heavy bike. Or are these the old ways of looking upon them? I mean if i thought i could do all these miles on a Gixxer 600 say i'd go and buy one asap!

P.s. davenumbers anything on coming over here! You said you'd get back to me and didn't Biatch! :P

Yeah I mean the miles, there's always a compromise somewhere; comfort looks performance weight etc. viffers don't look too bad, supposedly comfy and some riders make the things ****ing shift. Read somewhere just today they're faster than sports IL4 600s. anyway viffer was an example there are shed loads of options. Any naked bike might do you actually check rusty's reviews. My curvy naked I could jump on after not riding in ages and go up to scotland and back with no aches or pains, whereas the pointy S has took some getting used to although the 400 odd mile rescuerideout round trip didn't hurt at all infact I was ready for a blast when I got home. Do you ever have long breaks from the bike?
Problem is no one can tell you what you'll find comfy (can give you a fair idea though) even a naked like a superduke that's a monster you might find comfier. So I'd suggest test rides. Anyway that's if you did want to ditch the SV. If not swapping it for a naked sv or swapping it for a nicer colour then modding it or just simply modding it are your options. Problem with modding is you won't know till you've done it, helibars are raved about though.

****e! I was just talking to grace about that I was sure I pm'd you on saturday night! will pm u tonight.

Lol never got no PM on forum unless i was so drunk when i came in i came on here and deleted instead of reading. I was steaming saturday and didn't get in till about 4am.

And yeh i do like SV's for what i do i might look a situp next year. Not keen on the Gladius... so nakeds here i come, pref. a k3 onwards so i get the same tail end i have on my sports (best part of the bike :D).

I'll bide my time, too many options but not got the cash this second so waiting till next year anyways. Cheer for the advices people.
