They sound and look boring. When done up, they sound and look boring, but more loudly.
They also ride quite 'boring' too.

I think considering the amount of power they actually have, the delivery is quite lively - not boring.

The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same bikes, parts might be cheaper though :-)

There is no way I am reading that thread going on the content of the quote. The word boring is used so much, it makes boring reading. If something makes for boring reading, then it must be due to boring writing. Such a boring few sentences can only come from a boring writer and this writer has the audacity to call SVs boring!

Are you bored yet???

I've never found anything I've riden or driven to be boring. It's how you ride/drive it that makes it boring or not. I've only riden 2 different big (ish) bikes, my pointy and a CBR600rr. Though the 600rr handled better and had better brakes, it was probably no more exciting to ride than the SV.

Of course the reaction to the BCF post would be along the opposite lines - this is an sv650 specific forum!

I've had 4 Sv's and still love them. However, when I bought my last one I was able to sit back and compare it to all of the previous bikes I've had. The power delivery is remarkeably poor and bland and the ride itself is nothing short or 'satisfactory' for a commuter bike. Not to mention the poor build quality and surprising amount of faults with them (more the curvys than the pointy ones, not owned one of them before).

Defend your bikes by all means but do remember some people have more experience than others.

I will have another one though, one day. :D

There is no way you can say the power delivery is poor or bland - it's great fun and full of character - league of their own if you ask me!

Nothing wrong with the build quality if you take good care of the bike - my curvy is 10 years old and in extremely good condition with 33k on the clock!

I don't think experience has anything to do with it - my OH has owned many, many different bikes since the late 70s and reckons my SV is a great little bike that he would happily commute on (if he commuted! -he works as a mobile mechanic from his van) or just have fun round the twisties on. His current toy is a Triumph Sprint RS.

Still it's good to hear that after giving them a good slating ;) you will have another eventually :D

I've got to agree, although I loved my SV, its far outclassed by most bikes on the road. The quality of materials IS poor.

It could be a good bike, bit more power, better suspension, but then that defeats the object of being a "BUDGET" bike. But as a budget bike its up near the top of its class.

Its an excellent way to get into biking, and you can ride one fast, but its like my old 2.0 16v Corsa... You can only polish something so far, and whats great in your eyes (sometimes blinkered), in reality, compared to the opposition, isn't all that great.

As said though, if offered a cheap one i'd take it for giggle and try to beat faster bikes on a trackday, but i'd never forget if i was on that faster bike i've jsut gone past, i could ride that faster bike much quicker than the SV I was on.

Not being harsh, its just a reality of a budget sports/commuter Vs opposition bikes.

They need an SV700 with at least 80bhp, and some better kit, and then we're talking a lot more fun.
