We've just been told that they are making redundancies here.
Out of ~60 16 will go. Although I shouldn't be affected as we are in a vital section for future profitability, it has made me think a little about my position.
If I can get something sorted then I can volunteer for the package which is substantial.
The problem is it was 11 years since I started and wrote my CV (straight from 6th form) so...
Any advice on the best way to structure a CV? I'm thinking of sticking it on all the usual sites and see if anything crops up, although I'm currently in research, I'm thinking maybe get out of chemistry all together.

You can get some good advice from teh Royal Society of Chemistry careers people, dunno if you're a member. If you're after something not on the bottom rung thogh then I personally don't see that posting your cv on Monster etc. is going to yield anything. Rather annoyingly, many companies seem to be using recruitment agencies a lot, which are in the same circle fo hell as estate agents,. but the better ones are Lab Support, SRG (only for their size not their service), maybe CK, Northpoint, VRS. Good luck mate, I'm also looking.

PM me svste if you want and I'll help you with your CV. Have done it for quite a few on here now and thinking of actually starting up an online CV writing service to make a bit of extra cash through it. Up to you as there's lots of good advice on here, but if you PM me, i'll give you my email address. Just done Springbokkis this morning, so ask him if he liked what I did if you want!

I will get onto it this weekend and shoot you a PM GG.
My biggest problem is what to put in, I've a lot of experience but it was 10 years ago since I had to get a job.

The CV you use depends on what kind of job you are going for and what you want the CV to highlight, but most times, an experience based CV works best, putting your career history first, followed by qualifications and training etc. Avoid beginning sentences, "I am " or "I have" and use direct sentences instead like, "Comfortable working autonomously or as part of a team." That's just an example, I'd probably expand that a little depending on your experience.
Get on google and search CV samples as well.
