What do we reckon? Will it be any good?
I never really got in to the atlantis series but I still like the original stargate series and haven't seen them all yet
I watched the preview and I think its going to be more Star Trek than Stargate, but I will be watching it and giving it a chance.
I think i've seen ever SG1, and SGA episode.

SPOILER ALERT !!!
The rest of the text will be in white on white - only highlight if you are sure you want to read...
The story of how things started is in flashback form, it starts with an evacuation through a Stargate onto the Ancient Ship.
We learn that Robert Carlyles character was working on how to encode the 9th chevron, and had tied it to a specific amount of power being required, and it just happens that there is a planet that can support that. So, a base is built.
Various people are recruited/invited to the spin up of the 9th chevron, but it doesnt work.
The Alliance attacks just as they have figured out how they may be able to get the 9th chevron to lock, and instead of an escape wormhole to earth, Carlyle opens one using the 9th chevron.
Everyone piles through, the ship is discovered to have a fault that is resolved when a dying man gives his life to save everyone.

I didn't understand the first episode. I think it might be an alternate universe?
The geek completed a computer game which solved something robert carlyle was working on which now mean they can dial the 9th chevron in to the gate. But they don't know where the new address takes them

Cheers SK. Guess we only missed the character introductions and the gathering of the characters to the stargate.
Watching episode 2 now!

She was in command of the ship in orbit, that just about escpaed before the plante explodeded. There were playing small camo roles in the show.
The story is actually straight foward, the "dual story line" is there to explain how they ended upon an acient ship that appers to be some distance from Earth. The story line looks like going in the direction of a linear one, but I wouldn't surpised by more flash backs.
I did put 2000 which is 800pm, as my first post about the timing which was wrong on an earlier post.
I'm gonna be watchin next, see how it goes looks interesting lest see what they find.
Why is Jack fat?! I didn't like Fat Lee and I certainly don't like Fat Jack!!

give him a break, he's in his 50's now, he's been doign Stargate for 15 years and he wasn't exactly young when he started.
I found it quite easy to follow, similar to Battlestar Galactica.
Storyline so far? Well im more interested than I thought, it does seem better, a mix of SGA and SG1 combined, but I guess we'll see more when they go through that first stargate, see how it pans.
Average so far, but then my expectations wern't all that high, and it hasn't really started properly yet, so i'll still be watching it next week as the missis is hooked already (all this from someone who thought I was a geek for enjoying SG1 and SGA, and who now wants the full box sets  )

That's what my bf said but he'll always have his MacGuyver mullet to me....
i used to enjoy watching sg1 on the odd occasion but atlantis put me off stargate didnt like it at all probably won't watch this either as it'll not be as good as the original.

Neither SGA or SGU have the dry wit of the original, but both are still good.
As said before, I'll wait for SK to have them all, then copy them off him! lol

I'll get each new series at each years AR stupid! lol
I found the first two episodes to be mildly entertaining. I was slightly annoyed with the whole constant flashback approach, but hopefully that was just for the beginning of the series!

Why are they overcomplicating it and trying to make the show in to something it's not

it seems to me that this show is for fans that are familiar with the sg backstory, i think it would be hard for someone who knows nowt about the previos incarnations to get it

It was a very slow story tonight. Its needs to sort its self out or it will lose its air time slot. I know nothing about the characters, really am no the better off watching it.

I'm still not even sure who the main characters are.
That flashback sequence tonight with the priest was weird. I don't like being "made" to watch the next one just to work out what the hell it's about. If you know what I mean

Yes and I hate having to go through about 15 minutes of ad's (i pay for that s***! Come on) If annoys me, then I won't watch it, tbh I losing interest in sky right now not much there to hold me watching it.
Ok so what is there good on Sky right now? Anyone?
It's like LOST, but in space...

Well i'm liking it. It's more gritty than the previous shows but does lack the humour. In a way it is like Lost in space or Voyager only because of the main story line...On a ship in the middle of nowhere. But there are not many programs out there nowadays that are unique. Glad to see that Richard Anderson is still getting involved.
I love scifi and i'm also watching :
Fringe
Warehouse 13
Sanctuary
