Need to replace my reg rec so thought i would take if off to have a look at it. Needless to say the connectors in the picture below are a little bit toasty...Is this were they have connected the original connectors back on?
If so why might have they done this as the reg rec says its for a sv650?

Basacily in the picture below is a load of cables that id like to get my head around, why are some linked out and why is there another connector for the 3 yellow wires. :smt104:smt104

Someone has removed part of the original covering (plastic/electrical tape) from the loom.

That link is normally covered and the extra connector for the reg/rec is just due to the way it's wired, when you take it apart it does seem silly to be only on a 6inch bit of wire between the two connectors.

Top "linked out" one is diode, meant to be there.

Both the linked connections are standard and not part of the charging system, as Chris says one is a diode, the other is a loopback plug for a part we don't have, both are part of the starter and inhibit system.

The three pin plug with yellow wires is the phases of the alternator going into the regulator-rectifier, the two pin plug with a red and a black/white wire is the output.
