Yay! I won the comp. That has made my afternoon :D

Ok, theme for October is "The magnitude of Nature".

One thing which has surprised me since moving to NZ is the number of earthquakes we get here. They don't last more than a few seconds and are just a mere wobble, but in light of the recent Samoan earthquake, just makes you realise how powerful mother nature can be.

I have a picture from Australia that i'll post to start when I get in. It is from one of the worst lighting storms I have ever been in middle of. It was truly impressive and humbling at the same time. Can be anything from, big waves, storms, extreme weather, frozen lakes- even Brands being dumped in snow at last years BSB meet!

Cheers
Luke

The Alps stretching away, with the road twisting like a ribbon, showing how puny we are really...

Extra points for this being taken from the 'Bikers Nest' at the top of the Grossglockner road. :D

Didn't enter a 'power photo' as this comp is the 'Magnitude of Nature', not the 'Power of Nature' :smt080

All the forces of Nature

Cor blimey, might as well enter this one with such a low number of participants my chances have significantly increased! Not by much mind

Here's my pic. A huge attraction in the birding world, the flocking of starlings in the winter evenings, picture here taken at Aberystwyth. Not many places play host to this amazing gathering, there's another great spot that draws even more birds down in Somerset I think.

Not an easy topic this month....
and even I would vote for Luckypants pic ...

But I'll throw one in just for sport.

The Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. (us)

The world looks large in the mountains.
The mountains are so big close up and the views are sooo great.
A seemingly endless forest as far as one can see.
The world as it was meant to be....unspoiled by man.
