That thing looks so dodgy. Looks fun though
looks a bit slow
only because they are pussies. I reckon a bunch of ratted bikers would have that thing going like a James Bond centrifuge

I wonder how fast a person has to go before their drag equals the twenty or thirty pounds of thrust those pulse jets can deliver. With a decent fuel supply I suspect that thing could have ended up going quite fast.
When are we getting one???
Keith.

30lbs ~ 15kg
150 = rho V^2 Cd A
(yes put the thrust in newtons, you mongchild)
If you reckon a bloke is a cube, then Cd is about 1.05, A would be about 4 foot by 3 (sat down), call is 1.5m^2 for a laugh.
With that lot V = ~7.96m/s ... 30lbs is pretty near as far as I can guess from watching the vid.
That is a lockwood-hiller pulsejet.http://www.aardvark.co.nz/pjet/images/valveless1.jpg
This one produced about 300lbs of thrust, but was made in a lab rather than a scrapyard heh.

With that lot V = ~2m/s ... they have more than 30lbs thrust!

Actually I did build one for a mate in the RC plane hobby years ago from some plans found randomly on the net. He turned the forms for the cones on a woodturning lathe (in his shed, of course), and I gas welded strips of steel cut out of old 486 computer cases around the forms.
Only lasted a few flights before it burnt through and he got one made out of stainless, but the plane was clocked by doppler sound recording at over 150mph on flyby!
Now we know why you were talking about doing a weird twisty affair for DPs exhaust though... the SV engine will only be there to start one of those :)
