Hi folks
Most of you know Bibio whether it's through his sunday ride outs or his mechanical knowledge and that he had his bike nicked a few weeks ago.
If you have been on one of his bimbles you may have noticed that he was having a lot of pain in his shoulder.
Well i had a call from him yesterday to tell me that he is currently in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Came as a bit of a shock to me.
He was getting checked for possible problems with his heart and i believe that the results had come back ok. The doctors were going to give him an angiogram ( http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=2256 ) to investigate further.
I received a message from Bibio today to tell me that he has to have a triple by pass.
I have asked him if he minded me telling you all and he was ok with that so I just thought i would let you all know.
Not sure when he is getting the surgery but I am sure you will all be a stunned as I was to hear this.
Get well soon Lance.

It sounds very scary, but after my dad and my father in law both had this op their health improved dramatically, so there is a positive side.
Plus with the modern treatments, recovery is really quick too.
So GWS Bibio

Have visited Bibio (Lance) today in hospital. He is in good spirits but very apprehensive regarding the operation.
Currently he is not allowed out of the ward as he is wired up to a telemetry system which is monitoring his heart beat, which alarms if it is out of zone.
I printed off all the get well messages this morning for lance to read.

Exchanged txts with bibio today, he is doing well and seems quite up beat. He is getting home (to his mums) Reckons 8 weeks before he's fighting fit.
I've told him to let me know when hes up for visitors etc.
Worst case scenario I reckon a quick stop on the way back from the St Andrews run with some lovely ice cream.
you can carry the ice cream KG... lol

Good news then-----ta
good afternoon all of my concerned lovely people. i'm just back online as i type.
thanks for all the lovely comments and concerns. i feel MUCH better, believe it or not a by-pass is not that bad on the pain scale, i thaught it would have been a LOT worse.
the biggest anoyence is not being able to to things i would like to do, simple things such as having to stop myself from lifting heavy objects but apart from that and the constant itchy-scratchy scar feeling i'm feeling fit as a fiddle compaired to the pain i was in the years before the by-pass.
i'm currently having to stay in Edinburgh for about the next 4-6 weeks or untill i get the go ahead from the doc to go back home.
for those who would like to know i had a coronary artery by-pass graft X 5. these were taken from the interior chest, left arm artery's and vains from my right leg.
regards to all... Lance

Good to hear you're on the mend m8... if you need anything let us know.
I just got the clearance the day from the GP to go back to work, but light duties and no heavy lifting either.
Then I go and lift an empty welding argon gas cylinder into my car boot to get a refill, and promptly do something which I suspect has pulled an internal bit where they cut me open........ idiot!! No more riding a bike for another 2 weeks now](*,)](*,)
If it's still sore by monday I'm not going back into work - to the GP (again).
Impatience is a bad thing - TAKE IT EASY.. REST UP
WooHoo :) Good to hear progress is being made, as they've said, take it easy and heal properly :)
ooooohhhhh and to Dicky Ticker... thanks for the top tip on the laxatives m8... constipation is no fun when you cant 'push it out' coz your chest will split in two.. luckily hospitals have warfare type laxatives for such an occasion its like a nice sweet tasting honey looking syrip that does the trick just nicely.
what i never liked was the potasium syrip... not nice stuff..
oooohhhh jimmmy if you have just had an op and have been told to take it easy m8... then TAKE IT EASY, money aint worth your health m8....
there is loads of stuff i feel i could do but i know i cant and i feel embarresed asking people to do it for me when i know (before the op) i could so easaly have done it. i'll just have to bide my time.
