View Full Version : rear seat cowl
I might be interested in getting a rear seat cowl. I don't use the seat other than for luggage in summer and it's too high to get my leg over I get stuck with my draggin jeans! So a rear seat cowl which makes it all flush should be a lot better. Plus it looks good. I have been looking at them and I see they come with a fitting kit. I don't know what that's for. I would just like to be able to swap whenever I need to between cowl and seat, is this possible or not (as it has this extra fitting kit)?

While pointies aren't my forte, I believe the kit is to get rid of the grabrail. The pointy seat hooks under the grabrail assembly, so you can't just whip it off if you want.
Yeah, fitting kit consists of a new bracket for the seat hook to hook under (replacing the bracket that is part of the grabrail) - the kit should also contain blanks to fill the holes where the grabrail would usually exit...

Hi when i got mine it came with 2 little bits of colour matched plastic to fill the grabrail holes and a metal plate for the seat to catch onto. You can still use the standard rear seat as normal when you want as IMO the grab rail are a waste of space. Dom
When I come to next summer and I want to go camping again then I need the grab rail (or a sports rack) as I have done away with the topbox on this bike. So would I need to undo the rear seat cowl bracket plus the two extra pieces and put the grab rail back on every time? That seems like a lot of work or is it just a case of unscrewing a few bolts? I know how to unscrew the grabrail.
