...but is it worth it?

Basicly im a cleaner at a school during the week for 3 hours a day (nothing special) ive been doing it for 2 years to just so i could run my car and bike whilst i was at college, now its got to this current climate and its quite hard to find a job.

Really i need the money but recently its started to hack me off, i dont hate the job, i just cant be a***d with it any more, its starting to get petty, the people i work with are great we have a laugh, except for the odd people (which every one gets) but recently all the cleaners who do 3 hours arent aloud in the staff room (so thats 6 of us) and there has been a code but on the door to stop "certain" people getting in as there have been thefts, now the certain people that cant get in are only us 6, so what are they saying? another thing we have recently got is t - shirts with site team and the school logo on, now i dont mind because i get free shirts and dont ruin mine, today we were told no jeans... i mean wtf we clean a school we dont need to dress in a suit and that if we wore the wrong clothes we would get sent home, now im pretty sure uniform is not mentioned in my contract so :smt017 but thing is, where will it all end up next.

My plan is to sign on at agencies to do temp work, as i keep thinking all the time im am in a perm job, i have less chance of getting another perm job as i cant start straight away which i would of thought most companies will look for and there are many people at the moment that can start straight away.

Do you think its a good idea? tomorrow i finish doing my voluntry work and i will have done a good 100hrs which will hopefully make my cv look better and Monday i will contact some agancies asking them if they can gaurantee (sp?) me work if i leave my current job.

I know people in worse situations than me and im thinking how can a simple 3 hour job really f**k me off, but i need advice, reckon ive got a plan?

Thank you

It might only be 3 hours a day but its cash.

Those 3 hours a day go a long way to keeping you sane too.
Theres nothing worse than sitting on your ar$e all day.

ANY job is better than no job mate. everyone has times where their job hacks them off.

If you are weekly paid keep working, find another job. Then just start straight away. The worst is you will lose the last weeks money, but you will have a better job eh... And screw the contract over a weeks pay.
But if you are monthly, dont do it. Too much spondoolies to lose eh.

Good luck whatever you decide ok.

Get something else first, don't just jack it in cos a current job looks better on a CV then a jacked job. The first question they will ask you in interview is why you left and I don't think " can't be arrrrsed" is what they are looking for. lol

Ah man that sounds like the people that employ you are a bunch of Douches with a capital Bag!!!

They aren't powerful enough in real life so they have to impose themselves at work.

If your only after a few hours between college then at this time of year retail is for you. There are however two downsides... Dealing with customers (unless you get a stock room gig) and it will be temporary.

But in the new year they may decide to keep you on or you may be jobless. Bit of a gamble, but I did it once and it paid off. Though things in retail have changed with this climate, I'm a little bit in the past, so bear that in mind.

I've never had a job I've had to start straight away. Oh apart from when I get the call for a 'cleaner'...

Don't jack it in till you've got something to go to. It might be only 15 hrs per week but its still £80 -ish.

I'd be tempted to carry on wearing jeans, unless they are going to provide overalls. Its a change to your T & C's without consultation.

Good luck

yeah as bad as you may feel at times with your work, i wouldnt go jacking it in any time soon! it is only 3hrs a day, stick with it.

i was made redundant last month, i've now only been out of work a matter of weeks and its absolutely doing my nut in! i'm applying for loads and loads of jobs, but you apply and just never hear anything back. its tough and starting to get me down a bit. def get looking for another job, but dont ruin what you've got, its enough to get you by.

try not to take the actions of the school too personally. They probably want to wield the stick although its just in your general direction. Think of it as a means to keep you on the road for now.
Plan what you are going to do.. the road is long :)

Get another job first I know this from experince, having told a manger in past that he can stick the job up his/her ****.

Also make sure that you get all the money owed to you. I'm still owed several £100 pounds to this day in unpaid invoices and expesnes.

3 hours a day isn't much try doing 12+ plus hours when you really can't take anymore.
