I woke up this morning all happy until the phone rang. A lady on the other side of the phone said that she was ringing from a debt collection agency to recover my ebay fees of £75.65.
I thought it must have been one of these scams to try and get money out of me. I logged onto my ebay account to find they have blocked me, only letting me into my messages.
I opened the messages to find only one stating they have blocked me for failing to pay the above amount. I then decided to ring ebay to find out what on earth was going on.
It seems some numpty has double charged me for the items I listed but didnt sell.
I had an item listed but didnt sell at £21 with a £50 reserve. I got charged £16.22 twice! there was more items aswell. They have also not credited me with my £3 for the final valuation fee that I'm entitled to because the buyer never paid because he didnt want to pay for postage.
The whole system is rediculaous and the Ebay representatives tell me they are not allowed to remove the charges. They have actually sold the debt over now to a collection agency, and this has all happened within a couple of days as i was shopping on there day before yesterday.
I rang the collection agency back and have had to pay them the amount on my card, and they try to make me feel better by saying it's ok we have waived the £16 charge on your account.
This is entirely unfair and now have to keep fighitng ebay to get my money back!
I'm so angry!

Buggers!
Seems a bit unfair that they only sent you one reminder. How long did you not check your account for?

Why did you have to pay the debt collection agency? Surely you can contest the amount.

been done over by them recently too, they owed me £20, so I left £20 debit on my account and part paid the invoice, they then stopped my account I called to discover that in actual fact the £20 credit they would give me was in vouchers, so they I had to pay the full amount then I was given a voucher..
I hate them

I managed to get ebay now to sort out some of their mess. They deducted a grand total of £8.11 from one transaction but the dumb idiot on the end of the phone reckons that one listing for an item that didnt meet its reserve of £50 is correct for having £16.22 charges. The item started at 99p and had a £50 reserve and only went to £21.
They are so stupid!.
I told the debt collection agency how much I believed I owed in charges and said I want them to get in touch with ebay to sort it out. I have told them 14 days or Im going to take legal action to get my money back.I will go to court if I have to.
I'm going to stop using ebay its absolout Sh1te! and there customer services is appauling.
it's stuff like this that's really put me off ebay i don't use it anymore.

Ebay is actually very expensive now for sellers.
I'm hoping they do refund me the money as they have acknowledged that they have messed my bill up.
I had a similar issue with ebay... Fee for £13 which I pain straight away.
3 months later letter from a debt collection agency and they just kept coming. I provided letters showing that I had paid but they still kept coming.
In the end my dad wrote them a letter saying to take me to small claims if they feel they have a case and if we recieve another letter we would report them for harrasement and defamtion (sp) of character.
Never heard from them again since.

It may be what they told you, but you didn't have to pay the debt collection agency.

Part of me wishes I hadnt to be honest
I have always refused to pay debt collection agencies. If I have a debt, it's with the original other party in the transaction, not with any agency they've employed.
I'm currently being chased for an overpayment of benefit from when I was out of work. It's been taken on by an agency and they're hassling me almost daily by letter. I won't pay them because I know they'll just pass ,the debt back to the local council in the end when they've given up and that's when I'll finally pay it.
I'm only being awkward because it was the council that screwed me around for months regarding payments, and then dumped me with a debt. I don't usually run up debts, and never usually let it get to a stage where I'm being chased for payment, but now and again it happens.

start the bidding at 99p

This is precisely why I will be closing my account once it's passed the 180 days of no-activity restriction. Fees are ridiculous and it's so easy to lose money on. I've always stood my ground where possible and fought off claims by eBay successfully, I screw them over on every bike sale and buy I make but now it's too much effort.
F*ck them.
What should I do?

Im not happy
1) Is it your fault?
2) Do you need the account?
Tell 'em to #@? off

well...
I'm halfway there now!
I recieved another call from IQOR yesterday who then said I owed them £24, I told them I am not paying them a single penny and they can take court action if they wish because I can prove that I dont owe them money.
They ended the call with we will take you to court.
I then rang ebay and lost my temper with them because they still havent sorted this out.
I got through to a manager who saw the issue and contacted the billing department whilst I was on the phone.
They erased this so called debt and credited my account and reactivated it all whilst I was on the phone.
So the situation now is that I'm up and running on ebay again and they have also sent me an e-mail saying that there is no debt.
I recieved yet another call this morning from the agency saying I had to pay them the money, I told them that they aren't getting a single penny from me and I also had confirmation from Ebay stating there is no debt!
I wrote them a letter with a copy of the e-mail and also said if they ever contact me again I will persue them for harassment.
So hopefully this is the end!

Good luck mate, ebay are ****, been in a situation like you and they won't give you your money back for ****, last option was to go to court but tthat's even more expensive so not worth it.

Wow, it seems that I've been lucky (no longer after typing this!).
So far I've had no problems, buying or selling hundreds of items.
Ebay isn't always that expensive if you balance actual P+P with some cost covering.
But after what's happened to most of you, I can understand your disdain!
