My first technical question.
Does anyone know off the top of their heads the size of the attachments?
I know the fittings for the stand are 27mm but need to know the size for the frame, reason being is i managed to go for a rideout leaving behind the bobbins in the frame :toss:
So my lovely friends in the engineering shop are going to machine some up for me if i can get them the measurements.
Yes i could go and measure the frame holes but i haven't a clue where the tape measure is and a vernier is one thing i don't have in my box of tricks ;)
Cheers

I think you can buy these bits from Abba for about £15.Might be worth a call first.

Is there not a difference between curvy and pointy fittings?
What type is your bike BD?

Sorry, should of stated in my OP, it's an 08.
I know you can buy replacement parts from ABBA but if i can get them made for free then why not :D

Ive got the abba stand and to be honest the sv fittings are a bit pants i wasnt hapy with having my bike raised with them. I sent them back to abba and got the hayabusa ones they fit so much better and the bike is more secure

Thats interesting to note, I had my curvy up the stand for the first time the other day and it fell off :( mainly due to how badly they fit. Its put a big scratch on teh frame.

I rang abba as soon as they arrived and told them that they were very bad fitment.
He said to me on the phone they use them all the time and theres never been any reported issues.
I just got my money back and use the ones for my dads busa, much better fitment and I swear by them, even with my bike 3ft high.

To be fair, I don't see how they can fall off if they're fitted correctly. They have long pins that locate into the swingarm pivot.

the curcy pins are very short and have quite a bit of play in them, they slide on the beveled edge

I prefer the swingarm stand adapters from ABBA for my stand, but that's only cos I've lost a bobbin in the garage :D

Has anybody used the fitting kit for the rearsets? these are used if you want to remove the swingarm.
I got the kit but havent used it yet

Yep, much better than the swingarm ones I think. Removed my swingarm last winter

As said they are very short, and if you fit the stand as in the abba video (with it on teh side stand) then the bike leans too much to get a decent fitment.
As far as I could tell it was all put in place, done up tight but as I raised the stand it fell off. I worked out the best way is to do it with the bike upright, so you can locate the pins fully.
Ive got the rearset mounts may well just use them next time

Then you'll see how little grease Mr Suzuki doesn't use on the bearings when he put it together :p
Check the shock pivot bearings on the swing arm too, because they get a lot more filth thrown at them.

I've left mine in place, as I can still ride about with them in place, although as I said, I've lost one of the other blighters :drunken:

I would suggest that the mounts weren't sitting on the swingarm pivot bolt thingy correctly. If it's done up tight and they are fully engaged it can't slip off.

+1
Brollydolly, where are you located? Perhaps somebody could loan you theirs so the lads in the workshop have the items to copy. Maybe knock up a few spares at the time...
If local ish to Heathrow you are welcome to borrow mine.

Mine didn't seem all that secure either come to think of it, what diameter are your's and what length are they to the chamfer, pretty please x
As i'll get a set made up longer than the originals.

When i had it all set up like the video they seemed to be well in and everything was tight. Or at least as well in and tight as you could get with the bike on the angle the side stand puts it on. Is it just my curvy that seems to lean a LONG way over on the stand. The fittings seemed to apply a lot easier, do up tighter etc when the bike was upright

I can't see what difference it being on the side stand makes. You put the appropriate fittings in, pull the stand together tight and do up the knurled bolt that locks the frame together, then wind the handle that pushes and retains the adaptors home. Once that is wound in and the frame bolt done up, I still cannot see how the bike falls off it.
Used mine dozens of times, often leaving it on for days at a time. No problem whatsoever.

How different are the pointy fittings from the curvy? If they're similar you can pop up and borrow mine.
If not - oh well :)

really? I have never had any bad events happen with my abba, I use the standard ABBA-supplied bobbin things. Always make sure its nice and tightly done up.
I also find it easy to get on and get the bike up on it (i do it so the bike rolls forward)

I've had mine and a fair few others on the abba stand on my fairly uneven garage floor while I've used sledgehammers, cracking bars with scaff poles on them for more leverage, allsorts.
I've even turned a curvy without its swingarm upside down on one.
Never dropped one, what are you lot doing wrong?
