View Full Version : Is lost...
Like a sheep in a field of snow...
Like a important spring in strip down of parts...
But mainly peed off as of the 1 stone that I've lost from going to the gym I'm managed to almost put back on in less then 2 weeks. I must... I must.. I must stop eating these chocolate biscuits.
Anyway... I need to get re-motivated. Any tips? I thinking maybe I need to do something at the gym, more then just cardio and other physical work outs. I did enjoy a few sparing session I had, and I'm a little paranoid to try Karate or something, plus I'm not sure its really for me.
Any ideas?
Set yourself a goal, with a prize.
If the cost of the choccie bikkies etc comes to xx per month, that's what you get to spend on whatever you want providing you hit your target weight each month.

Why not try your local indoor climbing/bouldering wall. Martial arts are all well and good, but it's very easy to seriously injure yourself.

Why don't you try loosing a few pounds 1 week, then gaining 1 pound the following week (just 1 pound mind!), then loosing some more the next week, and gaining just 1 pound the following week. (You see a patter, don't you?)
This'll help you to see what you have to eat to loose weight, and how easy it is to gain just a tiny amount of weight, hopefully scaring you into EATING PROPERLY!

Muscle weighs more than fat.
'Tis true I tell ya.
Also, muscle burns calories. The more muscle you build the more calories you will burn and therefore the more weight you will lose. Course you need to take in more calories to build the muscle so... erm... well... I'll shut up.
I've never found martial arts to burn that many calories for me. Mainly cos I just stand around getting smacked all the time.
Do what I do. If you wanna look thin you gotta hang out with fat people. :D

Its a life style choice more than anything...if you eat loads of stuff, too much of anything u gain weight.
I can only suggest what I did, will be doing once I begin to feel better than I do right now. I don't have any junk in the house apart from Dark Choclate, I ingore the vending machines, drink lots of water.
I eat a lot of stuff with salad, rice, noodles ect, fish.
if I could I would train about 3-4 times a week, easier said then done but I guess just making a rountine and getting on with it. But I have found I have put weight just by being sat in an office were are not desgined for that, not too mention I feel worse 8 hours later!
I swim, run, martial arts and weights to stay in shape when fit, martial arts is fine just don't get hit:wink:
As before just make it part of you, as you do it work but you won't get results over night. I would suggest body %, body is more important than overall weight. Don't use BMI it is just all wrong and means nothing.
I just think I need to do something that involves me in some way... I've been going to the gym for a year now and it can be very boring sometimes, and in away very lonely. I just though of sparing or something as the last time I did it I was well knackered at the end of it all. But sparing needs a partner really so you can egg each other on and of course be the guy/gal with the pads at the time.
I was doing System A for a bit but I found it a bit out of my way for work and as it was so late in the evening it mean I had to hang about in London center, when I wanted to just my thing done and then get home for some grub.

Why not join a club where you are based in London? Something to do in the evenings give it a try. Also it depends on what art your doing, if you start running through patterns and forms, using weapons well you will see the effect it has on you.
Also something like circuit classes are good, at least its a group event.

No don't bother, just eat good food in the right amounts. Its a lifestyle not a quick fix.

I love you just the way you are. :-P
I recommend training with a friend. After I do kettlebells with my mate we have a beer, take away and watch a film haha. I am not losing any weight, but I am keeping healthier and its great fun!

boxing or kixk boxing are great solo and group phys sessions not just sparing but hits on bags in 2 mins and sit up comps amontest others, do a full circuit in a boxing gym for 30 mins and you'll be hanging out your ar5e
then a quick jump in and a few lenghts of the pool to cool down

Que? No it ain't :p if you go sparring you'll get punched but a serious injury is unlikely unless you're unlucky.
Martial arts are good for fitness but it's very unlikely you'll get fit from just doing a few nights a week, you'll still need to go to the gym or something.
I'd say get a bike and go out pedalling whenever you can, requires less motivation than running.
Whatever you do, you're gonna be more motivated than me :smt015
Regular exercise
I do all the sports channels everyday.
Might be why i'm too cuddly
Well I'm off to the gym tonight... 1 and half hours tonight I think. I'll just have to think of something... if someone wants to do some pad work with me then I'm there.

Sign up for a race; run, bike, or bi/triathalon -whatever floats your boat. Set a target for finish time, tell everyone you know what your target is, then you have some motivation and something to work towards (not telling everyone you failed miserably).
I thought about that, but I'm a terrible long distance runner, I could never keep the pace right. I was always a sprinting man, mainly kept to the 100m, 400m and 400m relay.
The do a body combat session at my gym on Thursdays, so might take a look at that.

Just look at it this way - you've saved all that money on new leathers! ;)
I'm more worried I won't be able to get into them, then fall out... lol.
Av you thought about gettin a push iron, not as hard as running but just as good for you, also swimming, you could mix it up so it doesnt get boring
so like gym one nite then cycling the next and so on, also there alot of cycling clubs about so could meet new people
Make sure you eat healthily to, its more important to cook food properly than the amount of food you eat!
I love you just the way you are. :-P

But you have to have a death wish and constantly get annoyed with car drivers, I'd rather run.
