Hi Guys and Gals,

Got a bit of a problem. I tried to remove the pillion seat tonight, turned the key and nothing. It won't come off. I've been using it every now and then and it's never done this before.

Does anyone know how to get a pillion seat off when the key doesn't work? Is it even possible? I've got my wallet and other odds and ends under there.

I'll be phoning Suzuki in the morning to get it looked at as my bike is only just over a year old, so still under warranty.

But any help would go down a treat,

Cheers

Will

Are you turning the key the right way?

Is the lock body turning in the Plastic as you turn the key. They're only held in with a clip. If it is try to stop it moving as you turn the key.

Hey madness just tried it. No joy. :(

The key will only turn clockwise, can't remember how much it used to turn but only turns a tiny bit. Like not even an 8th of a turn. When i press the seat down afterwards I hear a click like something has disengaged, but it's still solid.

Any other ideas?

Push down on the seat when you turn the key.
I load the "boot" of my daytona with crap all the time and it does stick from timt to time.
If you push down it helps the catch to disengage.
Have you got a windproof or anything under the seat that could be caught in the catch?

have you tired pushing the pillion seat down and then turning the key simultaneously, (so with your left hand push down on the seat and with your right hand turn the key).

when my underseat compartment is completely full it pushes upwards on the cowl so i have to compress it down a bit then try opening it. Try it it may work, even though yours is the pillion seat.

edit: speedplay beat me to it

Speedplay and ahmedf, cheers for the info.

Going out right now to try that. Think i did lean on the seat last time, but going to try again anyway. Don't want to leave my wallet in my bike all night just in case.

If that doesn't help, maybe try to lift the seat a bit and try to push the unlocking mechanism with a flat screwdriver.

Unbolt the Grey sidepanels , then unbolt the main seat , you should be able to get a hand in there and up into the rear section to get at your wallet for the time being .

Something hs fallen from under your pillion seat down to where the lock body is and is stopping it from turning thru its full range of motion. I know this as the same happened to me and it turned out to be a roll of electrical tape i had under the seat.

Try the front seat off idea mate and some coat hanger wire to remove offending item.

Good luck and let us know what it was down there so we can all have a giggle at your expense ;)

Who needs to call Suzuki when you can call on the Org!!!

Your looking at one happy camper, wallet retrieved and seat now working perfectley.

Turns out Spiderman was right, was my own damn fault.

I had cable tied my Optimate lead/plug to the lock body under the pillion seat, and with time and movement it had worked it's way around so it then jammed the cable from pulling back. It's well out of the way now and thoroughly greased up. I learn from my mistakes, this will not be happening to my dumb ass again. Well not anytime soon. Lol.

Many many thanks too all, except that smart git Spiderman(kidding).
